How to Break into a third gen.
No not for the purpose of stealing one or thiefing radios. But I was just at pep boys buying a open element air cleaner and I locked my keys in my car
SOB!! I yelled. Heh, there was a home depot there so I walked over there and bought this rod. Bent it like so and unlocked the door. Ha
what a piece of cake. Anybody else use some other way to get thire keys out of thire locked car?

pull window (driverside) back, didn't lock t-tops.. opened one and i was in.. then i retightened the door things that push on the window when it's up..
there's no sheild around the latch mechanism in thirdgens. by contrast some other cars have metal plates around latch to discourage theft.
personally, i found installing keyless entry greatly reduces the number of times i've locked the keys in the car. got in the habit of hitting the lock button on the remote when i exit car, no remote in hand can't lock door and must have left keys inside the car. all the effort of adding power locks to a non-power lock equipped bird appears to have been worth the work.

sounds like a neat toy, i've got one on order.

very simple. Take a rod of some sort, and if you have your t's unlocked, just push in with a rod or stick, and voila, t-tops are unlatched, and acces to the car is easily gained.
Damn, I need to get the locks on my t-tops fixed

I have heard of pulling the window out then unlocking the t-tops. But I just have this fear of that window breaking and cutting my wrist
!! that would suck. You know the last time I did this I swore that I would get a door key in my wallet. TOMORROW I get one! No more
for me.

for me. I've only locked my keys in car once, and now I always have a spare in my wallet. My car had broken down, and I had given up on trying to figure out what was wrong with it in the parkign lot. Get ready to go call the tow truck, lock the door, shut it, and realize my keys were still in the ignition.
So that added another $15 on top of the tow fee
Now, I always have a spare in my wallet. Trending Topics
ZIP TIE KEYS IN A ZIPLOCK BAG UNDER THE CAR....I done this to ALL of the 2 cars I owned in my life...LOL well seriously my father has me get keys made and I place them under all the cars my family owns....Had to use them several times over the years.LOL

Where do you think I got my thirdgen
j/k
I carry two keychains at all time... one with ignition and door... the other just a spare door key... I've already had to use it just within a month of implementing the method... saved my *** from sitting frozen out in the parking lot waiting for extra key...

On my 86, just about any 80's to 90's chevy door key will unlock my doors and hatch. My old boss has a 83 1 Ton which will do this. Other numerous friends cars are the same way.
Also one try with the slim jim does it every time. I have one hid out by the radiator just in case. Guess I'm too cheap to get a key cut, or just lazy.

Yea, that's the one I use...
Althought mcgyver would tell you that the task could be accomplished with a piece chewing gum, a string, and a AA battery.

What if you're a real bad aim with the string, bubble gum and AA battery? I don't want bubble gum all over my seats!
I had a friend give me the best idea yet? I made a extra key for the door locks and drill a hole through the end, and remove the rear license plate, placing the key behind the plate, and screwing the bolt back in. This way if you lock your self out, all you need is some loose change to unscrew the license plate bolt and your done. JUST KEEP SOME CHANGE? Surely someone will have some change... I have done this with all my vehicles.

I've got 2 sets of the plastic ones, both say Pontiac on them.
One is a blank set and the other was cut for my Pontiac Sunbird.

lol
mine is probly the easy way since my car only goes out in the summer time and i always have the T's out i just don lock the doors and leave the windows down
or you could always just hide a key somwhere and on our cars there are penlty of spaces
gas cap
under front clip
behind the plate front or rear
wheel well
under rear bumber
hell even those vents in front of the wipers

I use duct tape and put a spare key up between the floor and tranny. If someone else has the ambition to crawl under and get it, they deserve to drive my car. And working that hard to get it myself reminds me not to do it again for at least a few months. Good thing I'm one of these skinny punks.

How about this:
Get a long stick (broomstick etc..) pry the passangers side window out a few inches and hit the hatch release button on the dash if your car is equipped w/ it. Takes about 10 seconds :lala:
Don't ask how I know this... OR why I am soaking wet right now

I used the 2 paint sticks an antenna and a nut method..lol
well heres my story, i went out to start my car and my door locks are frozen up and the battery was dead so i couldnt use my keyless entry.
i got two paint sticks and stuck em in the window to hold it open, then i got an antenna and screwed a square nut on the end of it. Then i just stuck the rod inside and put the nut in the slot where the lever is and slid it over...

Keyless entry is a GOOD GOOD THING. I never leave my car without pressing the remote, therefore locking the car. Course it doesn't help if you don't have power locks.
Mine is simple and easy..............No drilling, taping, ziptying, THROWING OF BRICKS
.................I simply put my spare key in the key hole for the trunk, lifted my license plate back up and PRESTO....................I dont think a thief is going to check there! But if he does..........Well then hes got to get past Various Deterants!!!!
Besides I sometimes wish my car would get stolen...

Besides I sometimes wish my car would get stolen... yes actually I have done that hehhehe. I used a door stop to hold the window to the side while I fished with a hanger. It was a good lesson. Now that I know, my next Camaro is getting the windows and windshield tinted so dark it will be impossible to see inside the car. I will also have shaved handles and relocated locks.

I don't know about anyone else, but on my bird, I can crawl under the nose, reach up and pop the hood. So, I just hide a door key in the engine compartment. Then, the ignition is hidden in the interior. So... you can get lucky and find the door key...but wait. You have to find another as well. I've locked my keys in the car a few times. Then I finaly came up with this plan.
It was devised a little too late though.

i learned a pretty easy method. . if you are skinny. just pull back the driver or passenger side window and slip your arm in and unlock the door. i can do it fine but i had a friend who was a little thicker than me and got some bad bruises on his arm from doin it.
I found that after I had my windows tinted at 5% and tightened up the bolts that hold the window up I couldn't get anything in there. Keyless entry all the way!! It's easy to put it in a non power lock car too!

I looked around the backyard and found a flyswatter, twisted it apart, slid it into the window of the truck, and the flyswatter slid inside the window, never to come out again. needless to say i had to break into my house and ordered a pizza after i put the fire out from the one that was in the oven for a few hours, lol. I now i keep a spare key to my firebird in the toolbox and my wallet.

Well, know that I know where you all keep your spare keys ::checks to see who has the best car and is the closest::
We have a lock pick set and slim Jims in every car and my husband has keys to all my cars and vice versa. We always double check with each other to make sure we have keys in hand. there are also door keys stashed around the outside of the car.
We did this ONCE with the house keys. That was NOT fun

I did it at work (Lowes)... I went inside and cut a piece of metal band from the bander .. shoved it down where the lock was and it unlocked first try. Disgusting how easy it was... might as well leave it unlocked.
