Autometer Speedometer Hookup

My father is attempting to install an Autometer mechanical speedo in his
'88 Camaro and he said that the input for the stock speedo doesn't appear
to fit. Is there some sort of adaptor that is needed? Also, where would he
tap for the VSS?

Thnaks,
Matt

You have to call autometer, they will give you the number of a guy that makes the replacement cables with the correct end. Why autometer can not make those things work with GM cables, I have no idea. Its pretty dumb. Why do you need to tap the VSS for a mech speedo? The VSS is in the tailshaft of the trans, but I don't know if that is the best place to tap.

I'm actually not positive it's needed. Currently it attatches to the back of the stock gague cluster, though I'm not sure what it is currently being used for. Any idea?

Thanks,
Matt
