Fourth Generation Console
All,
Just received my Six Speed Fourth Generation Center Console in the mail this afternoon. It came from a 97 Trans Am and has all the cupholders one could ever need. I am curious about a few things on the installation. Is it truly a bolt-in from the original? I have seen a lot of these conversions with the window switches relocated to the ashtray area. Has anyone done anything different? For cars equipped with power mirrors like mine, where can the power mirror controls be relocated to?
I have a few ideas that I have been tossing around. I really do not want to hack up this console without knowing what I am getting into first.
Any information that can be offered would be greatly appreciated.

I ended up putting two more holes into the metal under the console to get it to bolt down. Others said that it would bolt straight in...mine failed to...don't know why...just did.
I relocated the two window switches into the console and let it still close and open. Looks great like that. I then put the mirror switch in the little cubby hole at the front of the console. I used a piece of plexi (tinted and then painted on the back) to make the mounting for all of the switches. Then some plastic glue to secure them all. It turned out looking great. You will have to move your shifter over to the left a small bit. Look on NoSaint's site for some instructions on that. It's necessary to get the shifter plate to sit right. I also ended up notching the plastic of the shifter plate so it sat better...but I seem to be the only one on that too.
If you're afraid you might screw something up messing with the metal and moving the shifter over, take your time and be very patient. It's a good few hours of work all in all...but in my opinion well worth it.

Mine bolted in just fine.

I don't have my mirror controls mounted yet, but I don't ever change them, if they do get bumped, I just carefully move them back to the original position.
Next body mod is 4th gen mirrors, I wonder if I can get that to work.

Zepher.
Did you just install your window switches into the ashtray cover? Or did you use a plate? What is your opinion on the overall quality of the console compared to the stock one?

The quality is great and matches the car perfectly. I have no complaints about.
