Can't get my back seat out!

Can anybody tell me how to get my back seat out of my car? I'm trying to restore this 84 Trans Am, but I can't get the back seat out to clean it. It is smelling very ripe about now and I need it out. Can anybody help me? Thanks!

I don't know if the trans am seat is the same as the camaro, but I know that on my 92 rs I had to take out a really long bolt that was under the front of the seat. You just pull up the front lip of the seat, and you should see a bolt head. Unscrew and remove

The rear seat is 2 diffrent parts, the back of the seat and the bottom, they come off seperate. To take off the bottom of the seat you need a 13mm wrachet, lift the seat a lil, and in the middle where the carpet meets the seat, theres the bolt. After that it should pull right out, some years have velcro holding it to the back of the carpet, my 84 Z28 did, but my 88 GTA didnt, you might just have to pull harder to take out if it has velcro. After you take out the bottom seat, you take the same socket and over by where the seat meets with the panels, there is a pivot, so you can flip the seat down and up, on the bottom of the pivot, there is one 13mm bolt, unbolt it, then you will have to pull it off, drivers side to the right and passengers side to the left, and it will come right out. Hope it helped, good luck getting the funk out

Thanks, I'll try that. I took the driver's seat out and ripped the carpet out. The stuff just pulled right out in large, soggy, rank chunks. Hopefully the passenger's side isn't as bad!

Something you forgot to tell us. Do you have a split folding rear seat back or solid rear folding seat back? The split folding style has a hinge pin welded to the center hump that holds the the inner bottom corner of the seat in place. With either style the seat bottoms must be removed first (undo the single 13mm bolt located directly under the front center of the seat cushion). Once that is out the cushion will pull straight out. This will reveal the 13 mm nuts that hold the outer seat hinges to the bracket mounted to the chassis. Remove the nuts from below, then release the seat back latch and tip the seat back forward (if split seat style) rotate the outer seat forward and slip the inner bottom corner off the hinge pin). Otherwise just lift up to remove the threaded bolt on the hinge from the brackets. Good luck, Lon.

Thanks, I got it out. Any suggestions how to get water stains out of them? I'm in the process of tearing out the carpet and the rat's nest now. Haha.

If you had very much water in there, I'd junk the seats and carpet. It's just going to stink when it gets really warm outside. I had 35 gallons of H2O in my project IROC so I junked pretty much the whole interior. Good luck.

Well, the carpet was toast, I tore it all out and trashed it. The back seat isn't that bad, it just stinks. It had gotten wet, but it's not moldy or anything, just stinks. I don't want to replace the interior, just the front seats, carpet, and headliner. This is going to be a cheap resto, so replacing all the seats is out of the question.
