Just placed my order for Baer Track Brakes!

Hi Guys,
I just placed my order for Baer's track system brake kit and touring kit for the rearend.

The fronts will be 13' rotors and the rears are going from Drum to disc conversion.

Does anyone have this kit on their cars?
I would like to see some pictures of your rides with this kit.

It has been about 3 years since my last major project on my iroc!

Pretty soon this void in the center of the wheels will be filled with ROTORS!
I will have to wait about 3 weeks before they come in. I will post pictures once they are installed!
I got a great deal on the brakes from www.autogoodies.com.

mine was 950 with all the options......baer has their own spindle so you would have to have a drop spindle modified. it isn't much that's done though.

Kandied,
Love you car man! Did the cailpers come polished, or you polished them yourself? It seems that you and I are the only ones that will have this kit. I haven't seen any other 3rd gens yet with this?

Thanks,
Tommy

it's an option you can ask for......you can choose 1 or 2 piece rotors, standard aluminum finish, powdercoated color choice or polished rotor as well as standard anodized black "hat" or your personal color choice.

i wanted red anodized hat on my 2 piece rotor but baer said it fades really fast so i opted for standard black. the 2 piece rotor saved me roughly 7lbs off the front end for rotational mass which is pretty nice and it looks really good.

i also had the rotor cross drilled/slotted/zincwashed which you can choose just one, two or all three options. unfortunately the zinc coating wears off quickly which you can see in the second pic but it does help in the smaller crevice areas from rust protection to a point.

one way or another the brakes work well and look good doing it.

I wanna play too, but unfortunately I have no fundage right now . Those brakes are going to look killer, and your car is a sweet ride. Where can I get a momo steering wheel like that?
That shop where your getting the brakes is fairly close to me, I may have to take a drive down and check them out in person. I have always liked the Baer stuff even though most people say that they are over priced original equipment pieces. Thanks for sharing.

GREAT lookin' ride there Mr. Z06! The brakes will be sick on that thing.

I appologize ahead of time if you've already answered this elsewhere - you gotta divulge more about your wheels. Please explain the stock look yet the 18" size?? That is just completly sick! I personally like it much better than the chrome ones floating around - yours are really unique IMHO.

Anyway, if you don't mind, tell us more about those wheels.

Kandied,
Where did you buy your kit for $950? That is an outstanding price! My price was about $1050 which includes the crossdrilled/zinc washed. Do you recall how much extra you paid for the two piece rotors and the polished calipers?

Onebluemcm, thanks for the props on the wheels. I ordered them Polished, but I had them re-polished and painted. That is what makes them stand out...hehe.

Thanks,
Tommy

i ordered them through a dealer here in mi who is no longer in business......probably for obvious reasons.

the price for the sport kit no option was 820...it was 10 more for the track. 150 to polish the caliper and another 200 for the rotor upgrade. an additional 150 for colored anodize over black. i was able to get a pretty good deal. the lowest i've found my options now is still very close to what i paid but i've been warned about posting non sponsor prices. those interested just search as it's out there.

the real sick thing is newer car prices and mustangs. half of what i paid.......just rediculous what we have to do to have a nice thirdgen. it's no wonder why you see less of our cars built this way.

hey guys,
I agree, Mr Z06 has a wicked ride.. Ever since I first saw his car about 4 years ago, I thought it was the best IROC I'd seen. Even to this day, I rate it in my top three favorite IROCs ever.

I wish that the company Mr Z06 bought his rims from would make 18x9.5 or something. Currently, they only offer 16x8, 17x8, 18x8, 20x9 in either polished or chrome.

I can't wait to see what his car is going to look like with those brakes filling up the back of his rims

hey Genesis98,

I'm sorry.. they will not because the rotors on the Baer kit are 13".

You can either purchase 17" IROC wheels or use an SSBC kit with is basically a 1LE upgrade and comes with 12" rotors.

http://www.autogoodies.com/product_i...products_id=78

That kit will be going on sale within the next few days.. The part number is [SSBA123-2

take care,
Colin

So no 13" brake kit will fit on stock iroc 16x8 rims.

last question: Although the 13" brake kits won't fit
C5, C4 and LS1 brakes will fit?

I just got the 13" track kit through a GP. Just got them to fit properly after having to modify the calipers to fit inside my 17" Ronal wheels.

and FYI, Baer's website has templates you can download and print to see if any of their brake systems will fit, but know that they are just for a guideline and nothing more.

Yes they do! My 13" HD Vette brakes fit fine in my stock 16" RS wheels and they will also fit inside stock 16" Iroc wheels just fine. Other wheels may in fact fit differently but the 13"s will fit 16" stock wheels, BUT NOT GTA wheels, at least not yet. It's a tight fit though...I can't fit my finger between my wheel and caliper. And to answer your other questions, the LS1and 12" C4s will fit 16" wheels (12" C4s fit 15" wheels), and the C5s require 17" wheels.

For more info on the C4 HD brakes and pics of my kit, look here:

The Track Kit is like $1000 at that's stripped. The 2 piece rotors are another $270, the poished calipers are around $150, the (drilling, slotting, and zinc washing )is $125, and this is assuming your core spindles are good. If the spindles are bad thats another $150. Fully optioned Track kits are like $1600.

I opted for the Track kit with Zinc washed rotors and Black calipers (which happen to be grey and match my paint). I had the rotors Zinc plated locally for $18 rotor ($72, half the price of Baer) and my kit came with the black caliper upgrade for free and it still cost me $1100. Let alone Kandied's two piece rotors.........seething jealousy............

Kandied, you got the deal of the century! :yourock:

My 13" HDs cost ME less than half that, and I can do that all day long....

Camaro_Mike,
I could have beat those prices man.. If you know anyone that's looking for a great deal on a kit, tell them to contact me..

I believe that some wheels have clearance problems with 13" brakes if the inside lip of the rim has a ridge. Yes, Baer has templates you can use. It's very tight, nonetheless..

later,
Colin

13" is great and looks killer but it really narrows wheel choices for smaller sizes and it's a pita when it comes time for alignment if you go 18's.

looks good though!

hell yeah, it does.. those rotors are massive

I just wish Baer wasn't so slow.. his brakes are still on back-order (2 piece rotors).. I'm sure Mr Z06 is anxious to get his car running with the new brakes
