82-88 and 89-92 front rotors the same?

I'm talking about the standard front rotors, not the 1LE's. I understand the rears are different, but I thought the fronts were all the same.

The reason I ask: I saw on eBay that some vendors are selling drilled/slotted front rotors for 82-92 and some have listings for 89-92 only.

My '83 has a chewed up front rotor and my friend with a 10K orig mi. '91 Z28 just put SSBC brakes on it. He said I could have his old rotors & calipers. Just wanted reassurance that the rotors will fit. I don't think the calipers will work because 82-83's had standard fittings and 84-up is metric (if my memory serves).

THe rotors will fit and the calipers amy well fit too because it is a banjo bolt fitting and not a flare on the calipers. I am not sure I would mess with used calipers though when remans where only about 15 bucks tha last time I checked.

All stock front rotors on 3rd Gen cars were 10.5 dia . (except 1LE cars).

My '83 has metric studs front and rear. Of course, the rearend is out of an IROC and someone could've changed the front rotors before I got the car.

That's for the fluid fittings, not the studs.

My 83 has metric stud threads, front and rear.
It's original to that year.

My '82 also came with metric wheel studs. I'm pretty sure they all did.

I tried to put a 91 Z/28 16 in front wheel on the same place on an 84.

I did not fit. The reason was that the hub on the rotor wher the bearing go was about 0.015 thicker and the taper was diffierent. This was enough to keep the wheel from properly seating.

This may be a fluke as I have had these wheels on other cars and the 84 may have had some part house rotor on it .

But there was a slight diffierence that I would have never thought to ckeck for.

I have '91 Z-28 16x8 rims on my '82 right now. They all fit fine. I have factory rotors.
