Sqeeking!!!!

Ok this is sorta funny. yet really simple.

While i drive the brakes sqeek, when i apply pressure the sqeak stops completely. ITs thew drivers side front brake. Its getting relaly annoying and it just started today.

People keep saying its a loose brake pad. How can i fix it? Can it just be re installed or what?

Thanks,
Shane

Sounds like the wear indicator on the pads. Take a look in there and see how much pad thickness you have left. I'm betting you'll have to replace them soon.

nah the pads and calipers are less then a year old, less then 10k miles old. They are not bad. I might be bad on tires, but i'm not too bad on brakes.... And the difference is the wear indicator squeeks while force is applied, mine doesn't, it squeeks when there is no force.

Thats not what mine do... when they're worn they squeek while there is no brake pressure, then they stop when I touch the brakes.

I've also done brakes on a friends truck, almost 1 year later the pads were shot. Sometimes the last, sometimes they don't.

Just go out and spend a few extra dollars on a good set of brake pads and change them. For someone who has just won an award at school in the "Automotive Technician" catagory.

You should know this information already and not have to post here asking about it. While you are at it, use some of that prize money to replace the rotors, caliphers, wheel bearings, & brake hoses as well. Also use $36.95 of that money to buy yourself a service manual from WWW.HELMINC.COM .

Another master mechanic we got running around these boards. I bet the job that said "$200 a week an just come in when we need you" will have him working 60+ hours a week. But it will be OK because, 'he's getting paid to work on cars.'

I don't mend helping people out who have questions, but enough of these know it alls already!!

Rotor run out or loose spring clip on brake pad are two things you can look at first before spending money. Also check the castle nut on the wheel bearings for looseness.

They replaced it because what part was worn out?

what ahppened was the brake pad was on slanted, so one side was hitting the pad first, th side with eh wear bar, and it was constantly htiing the rotor. When pressure was applied it straightened out and stopped sqeeking, this is in effect due to faulty parts.

I had a certified Master Tech install the brakes so they had to honor the warentee.
