Rear Disk Conversion Kit

I have the rear drums stock. Is there any way I can convert them to disk without having to do anything to drastic? I know the factory 4-wheel disk setup was ABS and that would involve computer work to make a replacement such as that work. Is there any bolt on replacements? Thanks.

Stock 91 ones (which aren't ABS, and it wouldn't matter if they were) work pretty good. 89-92 are the years actually.

Some modification wouild be required to the rear end itself; I don't really know how much. Easiest thing to do is to locate a 89-92 rear and swap the whole thing.

It depends on if you want just the brakes or the whole rearend. If you just want the brakes, a complete rear conversion can be had for around $600-650, from Baer around $800. If you want different gears, then swap rearends.

If I can find a Z-28 or something that has the rear gears I want and disks, then I can replace the whole thing? I thought I could, but wanted to be sure before I tried.
Another related question: can I use 1LE or whatever the performance package is on the fronts for mine. They are slightly larger than the stock RS ones. Thanks.

Yes, any rear from '82-97 will bolt into your car. You may have issues with your e-brake cable mounts but otherwise it's a bolt in. The front brake will work but you'll have to do a few mods to get them to work.

You'll probably need to play around with a proportioning valve as
well.

Good news. I found guy with a 85 Z-28 he wants to sell. I am going to look at it soon. It also has a 350 4-bolt in it. I am going to get the parts from Spohn that I want to replace on my car for the rear end (LCA's, torque arm, etc) and maybe a new set of gears if it is less than a 3.2x. Before I change them out. I think this will make a good parts car.

Bad news. Monday I ran a virus scan. Clean. Wednesday my computer shut down and refused to reboot. So I am guessing that sometime on Tuesday my computer caught a virus... Working on getting that fixed.

So you're looking at getting an '85 disc rear with the "bad" rear calipers, and then looking at having to install the gears you want to have in it. Why not just find a rear with the good PBR rear discs and the ratio you want? A gear install will run you around $250-300 anyway, so why not just buy a whole rear for around $200-250 and be all set?

Just tryign to save you some money here...

What are the PBR disks? Where could I find a good rear end?

Where are you in TN? I'm in SC and have both a 4th gen 3.23 posi disc rear and a 3rd gen 3.42 disc rear, both with PBR brakes for sale. I also have a conversion or two if you just want the brakes.

I sent a PM asking about the price on the rear ends. Just checking to see if you got it. Thanks.
