Car shakes when braking

If I have to hit the brakes suddenly the car shimmies a little bit then slowly pulls to the left as I hold on the brakes. I really have no idea where to start diagnosing this problem. Thanks.

i sounds like your rotors are warped or pads on one side is bad/have more wear on it then the other side so when your braking one side is doing more stopping then the other side.

what i noticed is that i hit the brakes and i can turn the right wheel for a couple of seconds. So i think the right brake line from the wheel to the rest of the system is clogged. (easy fix)

Just put new pads on and have the rotors turned, make sure the rotors are still in specification.. that should cure your problem. I bet money that your rotors are warped, and your brake pads have irregular wear because of it.

yeah warped rotors are probaly the cause, but now a days most places wont turn rotors so you'll probaly be better off just buying new ones, you could have a caliper sticking though to if it is pulling to one side also

Most places don't turn rotors? Take em to a shop, Auto Zone or O'reilly's, one of them should do it.

Pulls that sudenly appear are usually due to hoses. They are cheap so replace them and bleed the system properly. I would try this first...

Yea I noticed the only reason why it shakes it because as soon as i hit the brakes the car pulls to the left, so i suddenly get off causing the car to jump back to the right. I'll replace the hose and flush the system and see if that solves it. (btw what type of brake fluid do our cars use?)

I recommend Castrol LMA brake fluid for street cars...

My car was doin the same thing, exept it pulled to the right.. figured it was the calipers, so i bought those and then i take the wheels off and notice the right front brake line had all sorts of blisters on it so i went n bought lineS, yes buy lines for both sides, because its like takin a shower n not washin your a$$, its kinda wrong.. n then i put the calipers n lines on together, and voila stops dead straight

all u have to do is machine the rotors. lube the caliper slides and put ac delco pads on. cheep aftermarket pads alone can cause a brake pull. if the lines look good then you dont need to change them. If a line was clogged then you would have a hard brake pedle and it would pull extreamly hard

Hmmm, never seen or heard of that before!

You should patent those x-ray eyes of yours, you'd make a fortune!

No, not necessarily. The pedal would probably feel normal and depending on how the line is blocked would determine the symptom (ie. - return blockage would drag a brake, not pull)...
