Where can I get a new rear caliper for my 91 Z28?

The bolt that bolts the brake line to it keeps spinning and there is a bad leak.

I figure the body is bad and I would rather just get a new one. I saw on GM parts direct they are like 200 bucks a piece. Seems insane. If I am gonna spend that kinda REAL $ I might as well upgrade the whole set up now. I am gonna get the C5 kit for up front soon asnways. But for now I would like to just fix the rear.

Any suggestions or locations to get a used caliper maybe, till I get the car painted and on the road, then I can do the whole 4 wheel upgrade then. Now I just wanna get her on the road.

ps-ebay had nothing for the rear.

Thanks for any help.

If you are in Needham MA you might ask in the Northeast region board. If I remember right there's a place (JY?) in NH that specializes in camaros.

Check NAPA shucks local auto parts stores.
Check NAPA shucks local auto parts stores. I checked and I think they were 85.00 for one for my 1992 formula.

I will check Napa. Thanks.

While we are in the subject, what is the best upgrade for the rear brakes? Bear? or maybe some 4th gen set up? Fill me in as I have never even thought about the rear till now.

I am running a Moser 12 bolt if that matters. It has the stock disks on there now.

Oh well, I just called NAPA and they will have it by tomorrow. Cost $85 after core. So not bad at all.

I will upgrade them some other time. And just concentrate on the fronts for the next upgrade.

Thanks guys.

Your stock discs are exactly the same as the rear kit Baer will sell you, no difference unless you go with 13" rotors and those will be the same thickness too. No real difference...save your money and keep what you have.

What the hell. Calipers for my 92 Rs were 10.88 with a core at Advanced.

Happens all the time. No big deal.

A Heli-Coil will fix it just fine; for about $0.75. In fact, better than "just fine". Better BY FAR than new, with the threads just in the weak aluminum.

Of ocurse you have to buy the kit, but you get to use it ALOT of times.

Heli-Coils are considered an extra price upgrade in many aluminum castings. Heads most especially. Seems kind of stupid to put BRAKES, the one thing most likely to keep people alive, onto cars, without them. But hey, what do I know.

But I will say, I've Heli-Coiled more holes in aluminum than I care to think back on. Some of them were even my own.

I assume you're talking about the fronts; the rears are a different story.
