Are There Alt Vacuum Systems??

Hi All!!!

I am blue printing a twin turbo setup for my 3.1L RS Camaro. Ive never done a boosted MFI and I was wondering what do I do with the systems that require a vacuum since the vacuum will now become a boost. Mainly the brake booster, but also the hvac, MAP sensor, fuel pressure regulator, and the vacuum that goes to the fuel tank.

You're still going to have vacuum when you're not under boost.

So when Im not on the trottle, the entire manifold becomes a vacuum strong enough to supply the brake booster? What about the hvac, it will be under boost while the a/c is running, will it still direct the vents correctly ,.. . . somehow?

When you're not on the throttle, it'll behave just as it does on a N/A car. Manifold vacuum disappears right now when you go to WOT, but everything still works.

Re: Are There Alt Vacuum Systems??

If you are going to be running boost you need a 2 or 3 bar MAP anyway so that wont be an issue, the FPR should still be boost/vacuum referenced.
IIRC the HVAC should have a check valve so as long as you are not changing the vents under boost it should hold what ever setting you left it. And if the brakes are a problem you can buy a electric vacuum pump system to hook up to the brakes, or you could buy the hyda boost brake system which uses the PS fluid for assistance

MAP=Manifold Absolute Pressure, 1 BAR is for systems that only see at most is air pressure (IIRC), 2 and 3 bar are for boosted applications but I am not sure how much pressure each one is good for though. And BAR is shourt for barometric which is a way to measure air pressure.

Ok, making sense here, Im sure, but correct me if Im wrong, the MAP sensor is one of the vital sensors for the ecu to regulate the AFR, does the MAP sensor in the 1991 v6 camaro have the ability to rear more than 1 bar for boost systems? Or will I have to get a MAP sensor that could? If my theory is all out of wack here, educate me alil on where Im wrong. Sorry guys for getting off the brake issue in the thread.
