I switched to rear disks.....

I switched to rear disks and had a question about the prop valve. The guy I bought the rear disks from gave me the brake master cylinder along with the brakes. He told me all I need to do is swap out his master for mine and it will work fine because the prop valve is built into the master. Is this true? They look the same, but the part numbers are different. Just want to make sure.

Re: I switched to rear disks.....

A local site is telling me to install a prop valve even with the rear disk master. I just want what was from the factory. I know GM didn't splice in a prop valve.lol

Re: I switched to rear disks.....

i beleive the prop valve and residual pressure valve are in the distribution block right under the master, drum and disc blocks look very different from eachother. you could probably grab one from a junkyard and just connect the lines.

They are differnt. I just know.

However, I have heard that either will work with the disk rear. To be safe, use the disk rear prop valve (that can be had either with or without the MC itself).

Re: I switched to rear disks.....

Just curious. What rear discs did you swap to, Delco-Moraine or PBR's?

Is this the on with the factory prop valve?

I saw the prop valve install in the tech section, what about the brake sensor? thats why I want the factory stuff.

So you were given both the master and the proportioning valve?

Re: I switched to rear disks.....

Yep. He said the distribution block (pictured) had the proper prop valve for rear disks. I want to make sure what he says is true.

Re: I switched to rear disks.....

If the master and proportioning valve came from the same car that the discs came from, then there is not problem.
