OK, what's the best front brake setup (stopping power) that will still fit in 16" IROC rims?
I have 18" C6 wheels for driving/cruising/shows, but I use my 16" IROC rims with the racing rubber for autocrossing & lapping days.

Ray, IMO, the LS1 brakes are the best bet. You could use the LS1 Abutment brackets with corvette calipers if the pressure cast vs. gravity cast makes that much of a difference to you.

Well I was hoping to go bigger than that, because for really good stopping power, the LS1s are still not the greatest, otherwise you wouldn't have LS1 guys upgrading to C6 setups.
I was hoping for at least a 13" setup would fit in there. But if LS1s are the only thing that will fit 16" wheels, then I guess I won't have a choice...or get 17"+ racing wheels.

Aren't the C4 HD brakes 13" rotors?

Corvette Z51 13" brakes will not fit in a 16" wheel. From what i can see, theres less then 1/4" space between the top of the caliper and stock iroc wheels for the LS1 brakes.
As for the corvette brakes, its the same caliper with a .8" bigger rotor. I dont see it as much of a difference. The corvette caliper is a pressure cast version of the LS1 caliper.
If your reffering to Z06 brakes, the 6 piston opposed piston setup, theres no way their fitting in anything under a 17" wheel. I dont even think they will fit in a 17" wheel, im pretty sure you could use a 13" rotor and the 6 piston calipers under a 17" wheel.
As for a need to upgrade past LS1/Z51 calipers & 12" rotors, i dont see a need. There was an article in GMHTP on a '01 1SC car being made into a car to serve track duty. With PBR pad's up front & slotted (brembo i beleive the brand was) rotors, the car performed excellent on the track, and the power steering ended up being an issue prior to the brake fade. But, to each their own

The C4 HD brakes do fit IROC and 91/92 z28 16" rims. What won't fit are the Special Edition GranSport calipers, which are thicker calipers. (Same caliper as Baer uses). The regular HD calipers (same as 1LE caliper) fit with room to spare.
I run the C4 HD 13" brakes with my stock 91/92 z28 rims

I don't know crap about brakes so please help me!
Can these C4 brakes be ordered at the dealer?
If so what are the part numbers? As I hate to order wrong
Family owner a local dealer so over the counter small parts=free.
THANKS

Ed Miller makes a kit that uses 4 piston WilWood calipers on a 13" rotor that fits in 16s.

hmmm... I have '90 3-bar 16 inch IROC rims. I also have Ed's setup with C4 HDs and Gran Sport Calipers. They work great. I had to swap the front rims to the rear and rear to the front plus use a drum brake spacer in the front to clear the calipers. It works great. Love it Originally Posted by 85MikeTPI

Keep in mind...Not all 16" wheels are the same. Some drop right on LS1 brakes, others require further mods, just to get LS1 brakes.
Like with the crosslace wheels...You hafta get those OEM drum brake spacers (or equivalent) or grind a bit off the calipers.

I think the WilWood kit I mentioned was designed for the crosslaces. I was wrong about the 13" rotor. This link is to a 12.2" kit. He does, however, offer a 13" kit with a 4 piston caliper that he told me would fit my stock 16s.
