Rust rings
What causes this?
Bad rotors? Pads? MC? Distribution block?
These are actually new pads and rotors.

Re: Rust rings
Normal? Something's got to be wrong.
I have 3 other cars that have rear discs and none of them have these rings.

Re: Rust rings
The inside will rust unless its painted. Usually there's a groove before the surface area gets to the center 'hat' of the rotor. The outside on the pad surface area looks like its not machined right, like the outer last part is thinner than the rest. I've seen that before.

Re: Rust rings
the brake pads contact the rotor to stop the car . they do not contact the full rotor . the area they contact remains polished from pad contact . the area they do not contact is subject to surface rusting . NORMAL . good luck .

You either have the the wrong pads or screwed up rotors. My rear PBR brake rotors are completely cleaned up after a few stops. check picture.
