C6 Z06 Caliper mouting questions

Hey Everyone/Ed

Ive got LS1 Front brakes (12" Rotor) & LS1 Rear brakes.

If i were to pick up some C6 Z06 calipers, can i bolt them in place of my LS1 calipers & use the braket/rotors i have now?

Thanks!

Sheldon

Re: C6 Z06 Caliper mouting questions

My understanding is that if you have the C5 calipers you can bolt them up but need to upgrade to the z06 rotor. They also will only fit under an 18inch wheel.

I am not sure if the c5 mounting points and ls1 mounting points are the same.

I am sure ed will correct me if I am wrong..

Re: C6 Z06 Caliper mouting questions

I do know the Corvette Caliper & LS1 caliper are the same dimentionally other then the production method, and rotor size.

To my understanding, the reason the Z06 brakes wont fit under anythign smaller then 18" is cause of the 14" rotors. But if i used LS1 12" rotors, or even Corvette 13" Rotors, i could hopefully fit them under my 17" wheels.

Ill see what other information i can find, thanks guys!

Yes you can. With the LS1 brackets I sent you, you must use the LS1 abutment and LS1 pad but the C5/C6 caliper will bolt right on and work with the LS1 rotor.

I can fit my c6 z06 brakes behind my 17" wheels. they are simmons 3pc 17x9.5 front and 17x11.5 rear. I have to use a 7/8" spacer in front to keep the front of the caliper from hitting the back of the wheel face.

The c5 calipers are different than ls1 also in that their piston size is smaller.

Ed, I think he's talking about the z06 caliper, not the base c5/c6 caliper... In which case, no, you'd need at least the c5/c6 brackets to bolt the c6zo6 caliper and use the c6zo6 14" rotor.

How much room do you have between the caliper and wheel? Not on the spoke side but directly above the caliper?
