1/4in to 6mm conversion... brake line

I bought 25ft of 1/4" brake line to redo the line from the prop valve to the rear spliter. When I went to put the fittings onto the new line they wont fit.
So I realine now that the old line was 6mm. Is there anything I can do except return the new line and buy a 6mm line?

So you guys are saying that the line coming back to the rear axle is indeed a metric line and not a 1/4" line with a metric fitting?

mine was 6mm, the nut would not fit on a 1/4" brake line

All the lines on 82-83 cars are SAE, all the lines on 84+ cars are metric.

But what about the axle lines, are they not 3/16" but with metric fittings? I was doing some reading and it sounded like 6mm line was the only metric line and that for the small ones the automakers still use 3/16 even if they go metric.

Do you happen to remember what size wrench is used to loosen the nut that goes into the rubber axle line from the body? 14mm is way too loose and 13mm won't fit, even with sanding to remove dirt etc. Same with 1/2" and 9/16"...too small, too big.

And then the 10mm nuts on the axle lines....i got them loose with a 12mm but was lucky as it fit sloppy. But again, i can't get anything else to fit.

sorry eddie, i could not tell you that off the top of my head. i ended up just replacing all the hardlines on my car cause they were all shot and i broke most of them when i installed the stainless flex lines. You can even get them in stainless, then they wont rust on you and you have new nust to deal with.
