9 bolt rear PBR brakes using C5 rotors possible?

IIRC I can just get ed's backing plate and this will work?

What do I do about e-brake?

No, the C5 rotors are too thick for those calipers and the radial dimentions are wrong.

Re: 9 bolt rear PBR brakes using C5 rotors possible?

What I have

C5 rotors
LS1 front calipers/abutments
C5 conversion brackets
9 bolt rear with PBR brakes
C5 pads

Since I need rotors it would be nice if I can just upgrade to C5 brakes in the back

I have 18" Z06 wheels in the back if it matters

Well hey there...

The C5 rear brakes aren't as bolt on friendly as LS1s are, the backing plate bolt patterns are totally different. Here's some progress I made a while back but this is currently set up for a drum rear:

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/brak...ear-c5-c6.html

I apologize for not having them finished yet and it's too cold now to get to them so I'll get back to them when it warms up a bit. Until more progress is made, you can buy C5 rear conversion plates from Kore3 (~$750 for the plates) or just convert to LS1 rear discs which are very close to C5s, only slight differences in the two. Also, since you have a 9 bolt, that bolt pattern is different from the LS1 pattern as well, another issue there. Since you already have PBRs out back, I'd recommend increasing rear disc size (13" or so) and running C5 or larger front discs that will fit your 18" wheels. A 14" C6 ZO6 rotor with either LS1 or C5/C6 front calipers would work nicely for you.

HTH...

Ed

Re: 9 bolt rear PBR brakes using C5 rotors possible?

Basically yes, along with a couple other things and some details.

Hubs, mods to spindles, custom conversion brackets for a 14" rotor and LS1 caliper and abutment, new brake lines/banjo bolts, LS1 pads (LS1 calipers = LS1 pads). Good luck!

Yes, plates for 13" rear discs using the '89-97 PBR calipers are done.

Can you pm me the price for the brackets and everything else that I might need for the rear

I think I need rear flex lines too.

Re: 9 bolt rear PBR brakes using C5 rotors possible?

Let me be clear, the C5 rotors won't swap in with the LS1 backing plates/abutments and then bolt to a 9 bolt, there's a few differences in designs that won't allow it. The C5 and LS1 rotors have a slightly different offset and the LS1 plate has a different pattern than the 9 bolt. I was referring to the earlier '89-97 LT1/1LE/J65 rear disc design prior to the LS1 rear discs in '98-up. As usual I'll see what I can make fit but at this time you can't do that without a custom backing plate.
