Happy to still be with you
You know how they say "Ignorance is bliss"? Well, I was pretty blissful.
The Berlinetta #2 that I picked up for the LS1/T56 swap had a lot of things replaced on it, including the front brakes. I had the A-arms down to replace the engine mounts, springs, and install poly bushings, and in the process disconnected the brake hoses to ease the task. The first thing I noticed was the right side hose had not been replaced and needed to be, so I found one to put on when the rest of the job was finished.
The left hose had been replaced, as had the hard line with a piece of universal brake line. After I separated the two, I was doing the spring and bushing thing when I noticed something funny about the hard line - as you can see in the first picture.
When I replaced the right side hose, I discovered both copper washers were under the bolt head instead of one on each side of the banjo fitting. Going back to the left side, discovered that's the way it had been done as well.
At least they were consistent.
I drove the car from the Bay Area to the Denver area, over the mountains, plus more after getting home for a total of 3000 miles or so before pulling it into the garage for the swap. It's a wonder I'm still with you.

And it's just as likely a 'brake' shop did it as some mis-guided previous owner.

I'm no automotive genius, but even I know that was dangerous. Had an angel for a co-pilot I say.

This is just one in a long list of stories that would back that up.
Rather than hassle trying to find a double flare tool (don't have one myself), I'm just going to replace the line. I'm putting in a line lock and will have to reroute it, anyway.

Yeah, hydraulic system leaks usually aren't a problem. . .

I feel a little better now - the left side had a washer on both sides, just too many of them.
Actually, I feel a lot better with the way the system is plumbed now. New hose, new hard line, line lock.
