Replacing Front Brakes, Anything I'm Forgetting?

So over spring break i'm going to be swapping out my stock front brakes with new units from Baer.

My question is if i should replace anything else (besides the brake fluid) while i'm doing the swap, such as a new power brake filter, an adjustable proportioning valve, or anything else?

Any help would be great, thanks.

I'll post some pictures in a couple days.

Re: Replacing Front Brakes, Anything I'm Forgetting?

Thanks //<86TA>\\, i should have said this before, the kit does come with flex lines so thats covered and i will be flushing the system.

The power brake filter i was talking about i saw on Spohn's site under "Replacement Brake Parts". i'm not exactly sure but i think it's an air filter for the brake booster, i don't know how often its supposed to be changed if at all?

Lastly, when you said i should do the prop valve if i have the right tools, whats tools do you need exactly. If their tools to modify the hard lines then i doubt i have them. Another thing i should have noted i have drums on the rear so will that make the prop valve a must?

Thanks again for the info.

you can just pickup a 1le factory prop valve, ebmiller has them, i think spohn does too?

i know that fitler you are talking about now, not sure if it ever needs to be replaced.

you have to cut, bent and flare lines for the adjustable prop valve install.

Re: Replacing Front Brakes, Anything I'm Forgetting?

Thanks for all the help guys.
I think i'm going to hold off with the prop valve for the time being, if i have problems once the brakes are on then i'll deal with it. I'm going to hold off with the brake booster filter also.

I'll have pictures of the kit up tomorrow(friday), no body asked for them but i thought i'd post some anyway.

Keep in mind that GM manufactured both a drum and a disc valve, designed to maximize each braking system--otherwise why manufacture two valves. Swapping to bigger/better brakes without the appropriate valve seems a bit of a waste, but I'm **** in such matters. You may be satisfied with the drum valve.

Should be fine with the stock prop valve since you're doing the fronts. To my knowledge the different stock valves only change bias to the rears.

I would check with Baer before swapping prop valve or master cylinder out.

The 1LE front swap, which I assume is similar to the Baer version, requires the 1LE valve. The drum master is also required, though either will work according to GM. naf's correct though, a word from Baer certainly can't hurt. Following is the 1LE conversion facts:

Re: Replacing Front Brakes, Anything I'm Forgetting?

Ok so i a talked to Baer and they said that a new or adjustable prop valve would only be needed if i swapped out the drum brakes in the rear or if i experience severe nose dive due to the increased stopping power up front. So i guess i'll know more after the install and a couple test drives.

Thanks again for the help guys.
