Rear Brakes locking UP?

Rear Brakes locking UP?
This is a 1990 RS 3.1L Front Disc Rear Drum
My rear brakes lock up when I barley push the pedal but it will go away if I drive the car for awhile. One side had a bad wheel cylinder so I changed both sides it helped but its still doing it. I've read that the rubber hoses could be the problem so I'm thinking of changing out the rear rubber hose. Would a bad hose cause my problem? Could it be the prop valve?

Re: Rear Brakes locking UP?
Double check the rear brake shoes. The shoe with less material on it goes toward the front of the vehicle. The shoe with more material goes toward the rear of the vehicle. Also check that they are assembled correctly: levers, springs, rods and all that happy stuff that comes with self adjusting drums with a parking brake.

Re: Rear Brakes locking UP?
yes a hose can cause the brakes to lock. if there is a restriction in the hose the fluid cannot return to release the brakes. i just fixed a gmc truck with the same problem. also the springs on the shoes could be stretched causing the shoes to rotate too much.

I just got done checking both sides and the driver side lever that clicks against the adjuster was bent so it wasnt against the adjuster wheel so I bent it back, I also soaked both sides with brakecleaner. It hasnt locked up yet but sometimes it seems to only do it in the mourning when you first start the car after a few stops it goes away.

do you use your e-brake at night ? if so that could be your prob it may be sticking could also be why you have some bent hardware.

I rarely use my e-brake if ever. I'm kinda stuck on why the car will do this when you first drive it but then quite after a few stops and then wont do it again untill hours later?

I just looked at my proportioning valve and when the brakes are pushed the back pin comes out but not the front pin is this supposed to be this way?

Re: Rear Brakes locking UP?
Fixed
I finally got this problem fixed. Heres what I did I replaced the rear brake shoes, hardware and self adjusters. In doing this I found that I was missing the shoe guide on the driver side. I replaced it with one from a different axle and put everything back together and now it stops like it should no lockups. Cost was about $40 so it was worth it. Heres the part numbers if any ones needs them, with these kits there are only a few things that are replaced like the brake bar and spring and the alingment pin on the brake shoes other then that everything else is replaced. The picture on the right is the guide that goes behind the springs on the anchor pin, its a stock picture the camaro ones looks a little different.
