1LE brakes info need help for conversion

is the front 1LE option brake setup for 1989 irocs and gta's the same from a 1989 c4 corvette the 12" setup and if so can u just go get it from a corvette instead of buying from the internet cause i know a guy who basically fixes and parts out c4 corvette and i can get it from him at a much cheaper price if they are like a direct bolt on with spindle and disc ect. so if any one knows about this let me know cause im trying to convert my 1986 trans-am into 1LE front brake conversion so if u know share the knowledge thanks

Re: 1LE brakes info need help for conversion

I can't answer your questions directly however having just completed a LS1 front brake conversion (and 1LE/PBR rears) I found these two web sites to be very helpful.

http://www.lukeskaff.com/

http://www.flynbye.com/

The Luke Skaff site has listings for many front upgrades with sizes and similarities arranged in a chart. You may find your answers there.

No, the parts aren't the same.

1LE service items are relatively uncommon and therefore more expensive. If I was going to do a brake upgrade again, I'd probably do the LS1 instead.

Re: 1LE brakes info need help for conversion

When it comes to the vette brakes with that option,(the ones with the PBR caliper's are an option for car's with the H.D or Z-51 type suspention)the calipers are similar but the abatement bracket and spindle/rotor different. But don't think for one minute that EVERY part needed for a succesfull isn't available, because they are, easily. Like SkinnyZ said Flynbye, and other's have these parts in stock and ready to go.
