1LE Pads & Rotors

What would be a good pad & rotor combo for a 92 1LE Camaro for some road racing action? Stock-type solid rotors? Slotted? Cryo? I've ruled out crossdrilled after seeing what they looked like on our 2003 Crown Vic copcar - - cracked all to heck.

And, of course, the best place to get em . . .

Re: 1LE Pads & Rotors

I used SSBC's slotted rotors on mine with EBC Greenstuff pads. Came as a kit with 4 rotors and pads for around $400. The pads worked well, made almost no noise, but didn't last very long. The slots in the rotors make an interesting 'swooshing' noise while stopping. I ordered my kit online from a Chevy dealer, Scoggin-Dickey if I remember correctly.

Re: 1LE Pads & Rotors

I've had great longevity and performance using Brembo OE-replacement rotors, they've held up to abuse at NJMP and Pocono without cracking or warping.

For pads, I use Hawk HPS and then switch to Hawk HT-10 for track days. The tech at Hawk indicated the film transfer is compatible btw these pads and no need to re-bed for each swap.

AC Delcos are priced OK from Delco guys, but outRAGEous from GM. Is there a difference? How do they stand up to the Hawk blues? I've heard they're a rotor eater.

The kit is also available elsewhere. I think Hawks or Thunder Racing sell it also.

Re: 1LE Pads & Rotors

I just get whatever stock replacement ones that RockAuto has on discount.

Getting them cryo'd after you get them couldn't hurt. I just don't have the extra $$ for that.

I ran Carbotechs (XP10/XP8 IIRC), but just switched to Porterfields R4s (ordered direct from Porterfield).

No matter what you end up going with, the key is to have some sort of brake cooling setup.
