Brake proportioning valve replacement??

Does anybody know of any place that sells a replacement for the brake proportioning valve?

I looked on advanced auto, autozone, oreilys, napa, pep boys, summit, ect...but couldnt find any replacement except for universal ones.

I replaced all my components for the front brakes trying to fix the passenger side from overheating and its still overheating so ive decided to replace the valve.

-Thanks

Does that include the flex hose?

Re: Brake proportioning valve replacement??

Before you replace the valve have you looked at other reasons one side may be overheating? Try swapping the front lines around to see if the overheating swaps sides or remains where it is. If it remains on the same side it's probably not the valve. May be a sticky piston or something.

nope, was thinking about that, but was told that if there is no bubble on the wall of the hose than it should be ok

The first replacement calliper we put on there did have a sticky piston, but we changed that and tested the second replacement calliper on the car and it worked, but its still overheating.

The problem would be internal. I doubt that you'd see any indication.

stop taking advice from that person, moron.

they break down internaly, you will never see it. the very thin rubber linner comes lose and causes problems.

if you want till they look bad on the outside, no one would ever change them.

Re: Brake proportioning valve replacement??

I came on here just now still sweaty (sounds sexy huh?) from working on my brakes. I was going to man up for not believing it could be my brake hoses causing the front brakes to drag and over heat. HAH!

I changed every lower component BUT the hoses (because it was time). Rotors, new bearings, pads and calipers. When I went to drive it one was way too tight and the other a little too tight. I suspected EVERYTHING but the hoses. Read here on every post to CHANGE THE HOSES to stop this!!!! I said no way the hoses looks good and NO WAY could the hose hold the brakes closed since its so little fluid going back. Man I was wrong!!! (don't get used to me saying that ).

I changed the hoses and it worked immediately.

I've been working on cars for 30 years and maybe its because I change out things regularly, but I have NEVER had this problem. Could also be a design flaw.

Go change your hoses and be done with it. I am amazed that the rubber hose could cause that but it did. I'm telling you that the hoses on it did not look old and were not dry-rotted and were not collapsed or a funny shape and were not twisted.

Thanks third gen peoples

EDIT: Should be a banner at the top saying if you have not changed the hoses, don't post about sticking brake calipers. It is that important
