prop vale ? help?

i know this has been gone over and over again, but here goes one more. i just want to verify that im right before jumping in.

;i have a 91 that had drums. i swapped out with a 87 9 bolt rear end with disc brakes. it has iron calipers. i have no rear brakes, due to the fact that my stock valve is set up for drums. so i want to replace my stock valve with a adjustable proportioning valve. the set up im looking to due is like this...

question is will this prop valve work for me? (link below)

http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS-Performan...ductId=2157608

says do not use with metric or abs, does that really matter for my application?
if not, does anyone know what would be the best adjustable valve for me?

yes ive searched threads and what not for a few days now.... i cant seem to find anything. im sure i might be bashed on a little for this but any help is much appreciated! thanks in advance!!!!!!

ClayBraham, Cgeck this thread out. I'm working on the same issue with my Z and this is what I found. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/brak...e-upgrade.html
I bought a Prop valve from Summit and it work ok then wouldn't work the rears again so I'm going to try the spring change next.

This was really helpful! Thank you so much! I didn't even see this thread while searching. I guess I read so much I looked over this. Thank you! I just may give this a try first, I orders the prop valve last night and its in back order... Thanks again! Please keep me posted if this works for you

Re: prop vale ? help?

Can anybody help me? I cross threaded my proportional valve and need to get a new one. I finally found one that looks like it would be the right one.

It says that it has to have aluminum calipers, but I don't understand why it would matter when it goes through the brake lines to my calipers...
Any help?

For best brake performance use the combination valve designed for your application.

Disc/drum (82-89)
Disc/standard disc (iron Delco-Moraine calipers) (82-88)
Disc/so-called 1LE disc (PBR alum calipers) (89-92)

Re: prop vale ? help?

That's the problem, I have the 2nd design one and it's discontinued. I can't seem to find one, and this one looks exactly right. I don't know what I can do to get my car back on the road.

You can't tell by looking. It's advertised as 90-92, which would be the second design years. Perhaps a call to Hawks is in order.
