LS1 caliper threads stripped

Engine: LR4 4.8
Transmission: 98-02 t56 6 speed
Axle/Gears: Bw 9 bolt (3.70’s) pbr rotors
LS1 caliper threads stripped

Hey question for everyone would it be ok to chase LS1 caliper threads where the banjo bolt threads into or do i have to replacd the whole caliper now its only the top part of the threads that got stripped out not the whole way through

chase it. Just make sure you get the right TPI and pitch, and use some oil while doing it

Would u happen to know the thread pitch of the 4th gen calipers i been looking online all day long and cant find out what it is

i believe it's 10mm- take the bolt to a hardware store and put it in the thread checking gauge that they have in the bolt area.. then while you are there, get the proper tap..

Chasing it probably won't work. All that does, is remove metal that's in the way; doesn't put already-removed metal back. You can try it, but don't be too surprised if it doesn't. When you cross-thread a bolt into aluminum as it sounds like you did, there's usually not anything left to "chase".

A Heli-Coil however will fix it right up better than new. If you have to buy any tools, i.e. if you don't already have the right thread chase, I'd suggest not spending money on that, but go straight to a Heli-Coil kit instead.

Yea ended up getting s heli coil kit and it seems to be holding up on now to bleed it and see if there are any leaks then my LS1 brakes will finally be complete
