What are the correct front bearings for LS Brakes?

Please help me, I ordered what I thought were the correct bearings for my LS front brake-swapped IROC. These ones;

Outers- Timken M12649

https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...=5&jsn=5&jsn=5

And these ones for the inners- Timken Set 6

https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...&pt=1672&jsn=6

My mechanic called me to say that the outers are too large and have no race.

Please can you help me understand what I need to order- it's a pain because I am in Britain so it's costly and slow getting parts. Thanks so much

Re: What are the correct front bearings for LS Brakes?

You mention having a swapped LS brake upgrade.
Typically this means that only the rotors and calipers are changed and it's necessary to turn a conventional 3rd gen rotor and hub assembly into a hub only deal.
That's what my modification entailed and as such I use wheel bearings for my chassis year.

Note that some upgrades use the 3rd gen 1LE rotor. IIRC, that entails a different bearing set.
Hope that helps.

These are the bearing sets used in my 86 Camaro chassis. As mentioned, I've taken a conventional brake rotor with an integral hub for the 86 and had the rotor portion machined away so that all that remained was the hub portion. The 4th gen rotor fits over that.

I did the same as You Skinny Z...
But when CNC'd Aluminum replacement Hubs became available...
I purchased them ASAP!
They are every bit just as Serviceable, and Repairable as the Stock Rotor cut down on a Lathe.

I wish most all Wheel Hubs were designed/ Produced this way.
They are serviceable, and repairable if need be with new Bearings and Seals.
Just like the Good Old Days!!!

You're going to have to tell us more about how you prepared the spindle for that brake swap. Did you have standard spindle and bearing, or did you prep it for 1LE bearings, or did you use a 1LE spindle with 1LE bearings?

You have a customized car now. Life will be much easier if you keep a notebook of the parts you put on it so you know how to service it.

Thanks I've just ordered set 34. What I think is that the spindle Big Brakes supplied was a stock Z28 so by me ordering the IROC one, it was the wrong call.
Appreciate the help

You are totally right but I bought them about 8 years ago and just 'assumed' they were stock hubs- which I think they are just modified. The difference is they are stock 88 Camaro and not specifically IROC or 1LE. Set 34 I hope will sort me out. Thanks and noted on noting upgrades! LOL

Exactly. Whoever gets my car after I'm done with it will have an extensive compendium for all upgrades, swapped bits and etc.

I think for the most part he puts 1LE bearings in all the spindles he reworks I don't know how that is denoted at the Rock Auto site. I'd start by limiting my search to 1991 - 1992 cars.

I actually mailed them and got a response- either set6 or 34. If the ones I have are too big, must be 34. Ordered both sets in case
