Rear disc brackets

It appears Ed Miller isn't in business anymore.

I did this one about 15 years ago and I forget how. Converting a drum rear to factory disc. I can't remember if the bottom two bolt holes for the drum backing plate is the same spacing as the disc backing plate?

I know Ed used to sell special conversion caliper mounts that were 3 bolt. Does anyone sell those for either the delco calipers or pbr ?

Re: Rear disc brackets

I've been wondering the same thing.
In my searching I noticed a couple of companies (The Right Stuff and LEED) both offer kits that look like they use the Delco caliper (or something similar) and SSBC-USA uses a Ford Varga series caliper.
Would love to find brackets for drum to PBR.

Do you happen to have links to the Right stuff or Leed and their caliper brackets? I'd actually prefer to use delco calipers on this project because wheel clearance is better.

I may end up just using drum brakes if I can't find what I want but.

I'm not 100% sure they are the Delco but they look like they may be from the pictures.

So those are similar to this setup from speedway:

https://www.speedwaymotors.com/GM-7-...ake,36673.html

I believe those use 78+ full size car calipers, which are larger than the thirdgen delco calipers. (hence why they don't work with 15" wheels).

Re: Rear disc brackets

I think you are correct, I have not given much thought to the 15" wheels as i'm still rocking the factory 14" and have a set of 16" rims for when the time to get new tires comes.

If someone has the drawings for the PBR brackets, I may be able to get a local shop to price out a run.

This would be a long shot but Tobin at kore3 may be able to help. When I did my brake upgrade he had so many options he could machine. He was extremely knowledgeable. The system I got from him was perfect. I'm aware your looking for more stock stuff but he has much more than is in his website.

you could also look at fly n bye. They have brackets similar.

Looked at fly n bye, I think they actually have what your looking for.

You mentioned the PBR's earlier. Do THEY not fit under the 15" wheels either? I was under the impression that they did. I'm doing my best to keep the stock 15" wheels on my 86 Z. Currently have drums, but I was thinking PBR.

That's Ed Miller's company.

I have some 15" drag wheels on my Formula which has 93-96 PBR calipers. They are super close but they fit. I tried some stock 15" firebird wheels too, and they also fit. Your milage may vary as it really depends on how the barrel of the wheel is machined, the offset, etc.

I have some spare PBR calipers with parking brake cables, so I could technically use them but I'm nervous that they won't fit these old school drag wheels and I don't think they will fit the wheel opening on my thirdgen to try them.

Re: Rear disc brackets

Hi everybody,

I have the Flynbye drum to disc conversion brackets (HFConvBkt12). I also have a set of PBR calipers (18-B4345/46). I bought these parts long time ago and I can't find any documentation. Can I use the PBR calipers with the Flynbye brackets? Thanks

Yes. Here's the thread Ed (Flynbye) created for that conversion.

You should scan them to an image so we can have more cut on the CNC machine since he's out of business.

If you can scan them and tell me the thickness I have a guy with a CNC plasma cutter who makes custom parts for me.

Re: Rear disc brackets

So I'm trying to figure out if the allstar 7.5 10 bolt conversion brackets work with Seville calipers.

The brackets say they work with metric D154 calipers. I *think* the seville calipers are D154 with a parking brake. (D154 is the same as our front calipers).
