Anyone looking to get headers coated..
I had mine done at Hi-Tech http://www.htmcoating.com/Home/tabid/36/Default.aspx
They did a great job. Great service and fast turn around time.

Re: Ceramic coating

They look great!

I also had some headers coated last week but from Top Gun coatings in calgary, they look ok just the coating is very thin and scrapes off kind of easy. Not really impressed they are nothing like my Jet Hot coatings I did to my other headers.

Often times they are not fulley cured till after they are installed and run for a while, and will scratch easy.

unless its a big pro shop they can heat cure it fulley.

to what temp???

I have done my own ceramic, you can buy enough to do 100 header for $30, only need a cheap air brush to apply, and it takes temps of 700F+ for an hr to be half cured and like 1000F+ for another to be fulley cured. I asked, what if I bake at 700+ for 4 hours and they said nada, justhalf cure em then be careful on install and they will fully cure then.

Cause usually its a powder shop that offers it, and their ovens aren't made for them temps, gotta have a special one for that high n why most will scratch easy till installed n cured at higher exhaust temps of 1000+

Re: Ceramic coating

I'm not sure what temp he cured them at. He did tell me to make sure I cleaned them before I started the engine after I installed them..so they might not have been completely cured. I found a finger print on one of the collectors.

That would be a good clue in, it wouldn't do that once fulley cured.
Its not a big deal but its like the big secret to ceramic coated exhaust parts.

treat em like they are made out of glass till installed and run hot for a while.

Good to know, I was going to take my headers to Top Gun, if you don't mind me asking what did he charge?

Re: Ceramic coating

Good advice but looking at my coating more it just pisses me off just how thin of a coating they put on. There is just a huge difference in quality from my Jet Hot coated headers.

Cost was $240 plus GST

It depends on the type of coating, reg plain ceramic coating is suppose to be ubar thin, why you use an air brush.

but there are chunky kinds.

But reg ceramic is real thin, you get like a small 40z thing of it for $30 shipped and it wont take but a pop bottle cap full to do some headers.

It can air dry and be installed but its gonna be super easy to mess up.
