Listen to them, whichever sounds best is the better one.

i heard the infinity but not the kicker the reason i consider the kicker is cuase it handles more power. but in general i need to know which company makes a better sub for sound q.

I'd say the Kicker is the better of the two subs, but I'm going to say get the Infinity just because it's new. Most people don't know how to properly set up a sub and amp and end up screwing up the sub. Maybe me and my friends have had bad luck, but every sub that one of us has bought used has been blown or otherwise screwed up. At least if you buy soimething new, you can return it if it's faulty or at least you will know it's YOUR fault that it's blown because you screwed up and not someone else. I refuse to buy used stereo equipment, and I tend to stay away from used electronics.

I'd go with the Kicker, depending on how old it is. Kicker products usually last a very long time and even if they have been played loud they stay tried and true, lol. My buddy had 2 XPL's in his stang for over a year, sold em to my buddy and they still sounded sweet. They are very close in comparison to a JL W3. But Infinity subs have really good SQ, lack a little in the SPL part though. I like Kicker cuz it brings up both, same reason I like JL

Those XPLs (at least the older ones) sound horrible. They're made to pound, and not much else.

Not the newer ones. When they did a remodeling of the line they fixed some of that. Yes, if they are the old ones, they won't sound clear but hit hard as hell. The newer ones are alot better IMO. But like I said in my last comment, Infinity's make some of the best SQ speakers you can buy. No matter what the size, they just lack a lil SPL from their subs.

From the best of my knowledge, Stillwater Designs is only the Kicker line, I don't think they have any offbrand, at least not one that I have ever heard or seen, and there site doesn't show it either. The 25th one is bad ***, I love the way they made them look, and they sound pretty awesome too. Let us know how it goes, what amp are you going to be using on it.

Stillwater Designs is the parent company name. Kicker is the brand name. We make the Kicker, Impulse (now gone away) lines, as well as some speaker boxes for Toyota.
The first original XPL's with the ribbed cone, were lacking IMHO. But the next generation, the ones you have are really nice for small sealed enclosures.
I think you'll be pleased.

The Impulse line was still listed as Kicker though if I'm not correct right? Like the Kicker Impulse amps, etc. My favorite amp from that series was the IX405D (a 5 channel amp with class D sub channel and dash-mountable gain control). The newer style's are killer. Anyone checked out the new Kicker Mustang GT, I think they should have used bigger subs (there are 3 Kicker L5 8's) but it looks sweet.

Yes, you are correct...Kicker Impulse.
Yea, just spent two days in the Mustang...for a Ford, it turns some heads...but the three L5 8's pound, considering there is only a KX700.5 powering everything!

I bet it does pound, you guys wouldn't have used em like that if they didn't It looks sweet. Too bad it's not a Camaro hehe. The XPL is a very good sub, but it does lean a lil more toward the SPL side than the SQ side, but it is good on both. Comp VR's are very good subs, especially for the price. My friend's girl; has 2 VR 12's with a ZR360 pushin em, and hit 142 dB. I think you'll be very happy with the XPL.

The idmax does very well. Its very accurate and produces a lot of spl, even with being in my trunk. It would pound like hell in the hatch back of a camaro!

Need components, email me, I might be able to help.

On the grill, we don't make a chrome one...the only ones like that I've seen is Audiobahn.
