Jensen amp hookup question...

Yeah jensen blows but it will do ok for what I'm using it for.

anyway,I have an alpine head unit. The amp has low level RCA inputs on it,and some sort of plug for "high level" inputs...

I want to hook this amp up to drive my 6x9's,and im wondering if I hook up into the low in on the amp will I still get highs?

". What is the difference between the high and low level inputs?
The high level inputs are a low impedance input used only if the radio does not have RCA outputs leads. These are connected to your radio speaker leads. Low-level inputs are low voltage high impedance inputs these are used if your radio has RCA outputs. Do not use both the high level and low level inputs at the same time. "

Yeah I did some searching and answered my own question, thanks for wasting your time reading this.

Um, Jensen doesnt blow at all.. I needed a sub amp and my buddy needed a 4ch. amp, so i traded him my Alpine V12 for his Jensen 500watt amp.. Lemme tell u man, I have 2 12" Pioneer IMPP 750watt each subs, and this amp KNOCKED them.. Im sure if i had a more powerful amp they would hit 2x harder, but for the price of the amp, and it only being 500watt's... Its the best deal so don't rip on jensen

Just another plug for Jensen here.

I went to a few places (Sears, K's Merchandise, Rex... as well as some specialty shops) and listened to the 6 1/2" coaxials. I couldn't believe it myself but the Jensen XS series sounded the most real. They had great imaging, great balance of highs and mids, and they were only ~$40. And I compaired them to Pioneer, Kenwood, JVC, Alpine, Boston Acoustics, and Infinity. They all had there special sound, but I wanted balance. So guess what I bought?

Of course they didn't sound as good as a pair of components, but they're about $100 cheaper than a cheap set of components. And IMO, they didn't sound $100 cheaper. Especially with the swivel mounted tweeter. That alone helps a lot.

They're in my kicks and EVERYONE that has heard them asks "what speakers do you have up here" while they point at the dash. I actually do have a pair of Alpine 4x6's up there, but they're not hooked up. Then they ask me what I have in the rear. Again, I have the stock speakers back there, but not hooked up. They never believe me until I put my hand over each factory location, and they hear no difference.

All I have are 3 speakers..... those and the sub. It's a Pioneer 'cause to me.... it sounded the best (for the money anyway). Not boomy at all. And great LOW bass.

If you think I'm wrong, that's fine.... but first take a listen the next time you're at Sears or Walmart (the only two places I know that carry them). I think you'll be suprised.

AJ

Actually if it's a jensen 500 it actually only gets 175w x 2 or 350w x 1 bridged and not really 500 watts

Just FYI about Jenson. they rate all their Amps at Max power not RMS power. just about all places that make amps do that so it looks like your getting more for your money. the Jenson's line of amps are Ok. they are good to get you started out with a system.

If you want to go for SQ and not SPL i would tell you to get a good EQ. like a 5 band pairameitc. it will help bring all the high mids and lows together.

one more thing about Jenson. Their home audio SUCKS!!! i had two 15" 3-way towers and they just where ****. i blew the woffers on them 2 times then i found out that they where 10ohm towers so my stero was not running clean power. (most home audio is 8ohm) but back to my point. Jenson amps are ok for the money they give you a little bit of good sound but they are not the best

I used to think that too, until I replaced my 50x4 Jensen for a 30x4 Pioneer that played louder and cleaner for the exact same price.

BTW, jensen uses their "max" power levels in the giant power ratings plastered on the side of the box, but they also publish the RMS ratings so that you can make a "fair" comparison. I use that term lightly though.

I do think that Jensen is a lot better than all the crap from Boss, Urban Audio, Kenford, Rockwood, Profile, blah blah blah, but I have found that for the exact same amount of cash, you can get better results from other brands like Pioneer and Alpine.

You can use this comparison between amps...

305, gets up and moves...
350, gets up and...well...moves more
