box Question

Would having my 2 subs firing down into the 31x12x8 area make it hit harder or just muffle the sound? Also would it damage the subs firing down into a small area like that or should i run a port from down there going up?

Im thinking about putting 2 10"s in a sealed box down in the well, but I was also wondering if that is big enough. Surelly some one has done this. Thanks

I think one 10 or 12 would be ok, but i don't think there would be enough room for two. Maybe two 8's.

Facing them down increases the db's by 4. I have actually tested this at my local car audio store.

That sounds ridiculous. Db's are measured by Sound Pressure Level. You're not going to compress the air in the inside of the car any more or less by facing the subs a different direction.

I put two cerwin hed 10s in a small truck box, the triagle kind. I think they could sound better in anything else. Sure they bass but I'm not giving them what they need.

Whomever told ya that is wrong, and just needs to learn somemore.
SPL is pressure measure at a certain point, dash, kick panel, port, etc.

pandorafowler I see in your sig you have S12c's...if so, they need to be in a .88 sealed. Not ported. Those woofers were designed for small sealed applications, not ported.

Actually for what I`m pushing, they need to be in a .66 sealed box. I went and built a box for them that fit into the small space and have them fire into the back of the car. They are definatly hitting harder than when they were firing upwards.
