Cd Adapter

Hey guys, soon planning on a pioneer CD/Receiver for my '89 Camaro IROC-Z TPI. Can anyone tell me how much it'll cost for an adapter and wiring harness crap to put in the new radio? And what about the speakers... I got 4x6s up front and 6x9s in back- should I replace them along with the new receiver.. cause they don't sound that bad but the radio is just junk. -89IRO

When you get the cd player it comes with a wiring harness and everything u need. The only thing that you are going to have to buy is a cd player mount kit. If u install the player ur self too, ur gonna have to find the power wire and everything, trust me its a b*tch, im still havin a hard time putting this cd player in my firebird

Uhh... headunits don't come with wiring harnesses. You have to know what car your driving first. What comes with a headunit is the headunit harness, which gets wired to the car's wiring harness, which connects to the car's stock wiring. If you follow me: Headunit -> HU Harness -> Wiring Harness -> Vehicle Wiring.

The wiring harness makes it easier to change headunits in the future. Some cars, like mine, don't come with one and have to be hardwired directly from the HU harness to the Vehicle Wiring. It's just matching up wires basically. You don't necessarily need a wiring harness.

As far as CD mounts and faceplates, you can find some good ones that fit universally on GM cars. One in particular (I can't remember the name) has all sorts of options for mounting, including mounting a 1/2 DIN unit (like an EQ) right underneath the headunit.

Instead of cutting the factory Radio harness and tring to figure out what goes ware; Got to Walmart or a mobil audio shop and get the harnes adaptor. It will tell you exactly what goes where. You crimp the wires form the new radio to the harness. The wires on the radio are usualy labled or a scamatic is included.

Thus if you sell the car and want to kepp the radio.., all you have to do is pul it and install the factory radiod... I've install radios on 20 PLUS GM cars. This is the easies way. The adaptor is like $10 or less. If you have any Questions pm me.

As long as your headunit is working properly, you just need to hook up the orange wire to the constant power source on your headunit. That'll keep your memory running. The remote is used to turn on things like amps when the radio is turned on and off. If you don't have any, this doesn't get connected to anything.

if you hook up orange to constant power and yellow to switched power then it will only work in RUN or ACC and keep the memory
