Band pass boxes are good if you want loud. But they require alot of power to run the sub and a very limited sound range. You will hit a few notes hard but the rest will but not heard.

So I would recommend 2 10" sub or 12s in sealed boxes in the back hatch. I had 2 10" rockford fosgate runnin off a RF puch 100 xa. I was able ti pull over 140db (even with my freind lousy sense of direction meaining he turned the gain down and the frequency down instead of up) I still hit 142db without full power. Boards are nice but no umph!!!!!!!! in the bass most subs will flap. So it is up to you.

yeah i was planin on getting the pioneer premiers with a nice at least 600 watt 4 channel amp my friend has a civic (hes on the dark side of the car force) but hes gotta jensen 600 watt 4 channel with two 12 inch explodes and they hit hard but not on all bass notes however the shape of his car is different its a sedan so i dont know what the best way for bass to carry would be in the hatch back of an f-bodie i was also plannin on repositioning the 6x9's angled twards me mounted right behind the back seat for optimum sound and no ****ing rattaling whic so far ive heard in all the 3rdgen f-bodies but even with the crappy *** jensen 600 watt the car is filled with bass and its clean and loud depending on how you adjust the LPF and the HPF but either way i wanna get at LEAST a 600 watt amp for just the subs but i dont wanna spend an arm and a leg for an amp any ideas as to who makes a nice but powerful amp for a moderate price?? i know pioneer head units are the best ones to get so far so thats covered im probably gunna get 12 inch subs so i can hear really low bass notes i listened to the jensen 10 inch subs and they hit lower than the 12 inch x-plodes so i dunno if i should go with 10 or 12;s still:lala:

As far as positioning subs, the general concensus is to have one or two subs in the rear hatch facing up and slightly forward. Straight up is fine, too. I have two Infinity Kappa 10's facing straight up... they can put out a good punch with the right box, but mine is built to put out as many bass notes as possible (flat frequency response). It's much truer to the original recordings, but with the sacrifice of pure decibels. Personally, I love them, and I can always turn up the amp if I want people to hear me down the street.

hell yeah bro i was thinking i can just leave them both in an idividual box but not a bandpass and face them twards the glass on the hatch with the amp mounted in the center of the car, or in the secret glove box you need to open with a key depending on the shape of it, and put the 6x9's facint tward me behind the cussion where the back seats pop a little bit over the hatch, this way i can "HEAR" my music as well as "FEEL" it :lala:

Because the way the stock 6x9's are positioned they cancel out any mid range or high range bass and it deafenes anyone siting in the back seats even wont be carrying anymore than 3 people at a time my old t/a had two pioneer 6x9's i dont know what model they were but they werent new because i never saw that model anywhere in stores to be bought, but those are goin back in and i had two rockford fosgate 4x3's in the dash they werent hooked up because they kept crackaling when i hooked them up so i said **** it to them but the next either formula 350 or GTA i get will have the stock stereo in it because my old one didnt so i installed a stock headunit in my self which took a whole day with the different wires so it was stressfull but pioneer even though they are a step up from a stock system they still sound the best so far with highrange and mid to low range sound which is what im lookin for the 6x9's i had sound better than the BOSE stereos you can get for most cars :hail:

as for good amps, look at the JBL powervalve series, they are mono block amps, they come in 150.1 300.1 600.1 and 1200.1 the 600.1 is what i am going to use to power three Phoenix gold qx12"s it puts out 300 watts @ 4ohms 600 @ 2ohms, and is capable of going down to one ohm, all of those watt rating are RMS. The 600 can be had on ebay for under $200

If you really want to get GOOD sound, get rid of the 6x9s. Get some kick panels with speaker mounts and you can have nice 6 inch components and tweeters up front, rather than behind you. This allows for good stereo imaging, and you'll be able to hear anyone in the back seat that's trying to say something. If you're going for decibels, get the kick panels AND 6x9s. The more speakers, the better.
As for the subs, when you get a custom box built for your car, and it has two subs, it's most likely that the two sides of the box will be cut off from each other inside, essentially giving you two seperate boxes. Building two seperate boxes for the subs in the rear hatch is a bit of a pain, because there's really no support in the middle of the hatch area; only on the sides. Basically, the two boxes will sort of be falling inwards on each other. In the end, you'll have to attach them to avoid this anyway, so you might as well go with one box that's seperated into 2 on the inside.

[EDIT]
Also, if your stock 6x9s are cancelling out each other's mids (or any frequency, really), then they are out of phase. Most likely this is caused by one of the speakers having the pos and neg wired incorrectly. Check your wiring behind the speakers.
