Okay, my car was stolen and recovered completely in tact with system and all. It's not the greatest system, but it's good enough. I'm running 2 12" Pioneer 450s off of a 780w Sony XPlod amp. The theif broke in through the hatch (where my system is set up) and stepped on my "box" which pulled the ground wire off so my amp wasn't getting any power. Anyway, figured that problem out and it worked fine. Now, I have another problem. I am not getting any bass again. I looked into the system and the amp is getting power and all connections are fine. Here's where I get confused: if I pull the fuse out of the amp itself (40amp) and put it back in, the bass will hit for exactly one second and kick off again. Any ideas - I'm lost and have no warranty on the amp. Please tell me I don't have to get a new amp. I've been focusing on performance enhancements and dont have the money for a new amp. I would take it to a local car audio store and have them check and replace any burned up transistors and/or circuits.

i would have to agree with colby.. and it's only a couple of bucks to have them bench test it.. did you happen to check the rest of the connections? also try turning the gain down and see if that works.. i had an amp like that..

So this is a new problem or is it a recurring thing? Maybe a capacitor would be a simple out, though some will probably tell you that's avoiding the problm.

yeah sony sucks at everyhing that has to do with car audio, check your remote wire, and check the fuses on amp, it is more than likely the remote wire(blue wire), also check the audio cables

 

Haven't gotten a chance to get to the local audio shop, but noticed a few things that may key you "pros" into whats going on. When I turn the car on, there's that second-long "bump" and out it goes. That also happens if I turn the radio off and then on again. But if I keep the volume turned way down - like 30 out of 80, it'll stay on. I'm thinking when my car got stolen, the guy turned the gain up or messed with some adjustments on the amp and now it needs to be reset. Lemme know what you think. I wont be able to get it tested til like thursday of next week so I'm kinda of hoping to get it figured out befire that.

Check your remote wire, too. Maybe he tried pulling out the headunit and it came loose back there. Otherwise, it sounds like something's fried in the amp.

 

the bump is actually a power surge to the speakers.. did it alway's do that.. check in your manual to see if your amp features "anti thump" that's a feature believe it or not.. if you take the case off of the amp and look for anything that looks fried or charred.. that's a good indication that something is fried... also like they've said.. check all your connections.. sometimes a loose wire'll mess ya up.. check the coating on the wires to.. sometimes a chaffed wire will screw the whole thing up
