Anyoneput different size spkrs in dash?
Anyone put different size speakers in dash?
I'm currently putting 61/2 inch speakers in my dash, and its pretty messy, if anyone has done this, please tell me how you did it and if it was clean or not, pictures would be awsome. Thanks!

6x9s would be impossible to put in the dash. I know of a lot of people having trouble with their 4x6s.

I put the 6 1/2 speakers above the dash, cut a hole through the slits and plopped them right in, it was pretty messy at first, but now it looks good! Careful with the dash, it cracks really easily, I cracked it in about 3 spots more than it already was. I can get picks if you want.

i put a pair of 4" components in my dash. cut a board to hold the mid range and put the tweeters in the plastic piece that runs along the side edge of the windshield. i was amazed at how much better i could hear the highs even over the aftermarket 4x6s i had in there before. thats what i would suggest doing or something similar. 6x9s seem to be overkill and i wouldnt do that. same for 6 1/2s. 5 1/4s at the most.
good luck,

I've got a set of 6.5" two way (coaxials) with a 1.5" mounting depth in the dash, under the stock camaro dash pad (not top mounted through the pad). I used the stock sheet metal mounting brackets that I modified by welding additional metal to the sides (not neccisary but stronger) and opening the hole to fit the 6.5. I dynamatted the brackets then installed the speakers, bolted in the assembly, layed a peice of black speaker grill cloth over the speakers (to hide the chromey looking tweeter frame from sight (through the windshield by would be "parking lot shoppers") through the stock dash/grill slits) and from the suns pounding rays. before installing the dash pad back over them. Looks stock. Messy... NOT
.
I'm about to update my system and will probably try to squeeze a set of 6.5" (2" depth) with neodymium magnets, still under the stock dash pad.
