Let's start with what wires did you use when you hooked up your deck. In my car I used orange for the 12 volt constant, yellow for the switched lead and made my own ground. I'd start here and see how you hooked the deck up. A test light would be handy to have as well.

Is it just the dash lights or all lights like parking and headlights? Sounds like you might have hooked up the dimmer light to deck wrong.

Yeah, check that out.

Didn't you use a wire harness?
I would also sugest just runing a line from your battery. It is less strain on you acces, wire.

Why did you connect 2 deck wires to 1 car wire?

Hook it up the way I suggested earlier and then try it. Just hooking up wires at random can cause problems like you suggested. I wouldn't be surprised if some of what you thought were speaker wires might be power wires and that is contributing to your problem. Use a test light and make sure before you hook things up.

Also it resets and gets no power when the car is off...........the settings reset everytime.....
The reason it resets is because you have the 2 wires hooked together. One wire is for the switched cct, while the other is for a constant hot cct. Don't know the color codes off hand, but they have been posted on the board several times recently. There is a reason that those wires are seperate, unhook them now!

Connect the Red to the orange wire in the above diagram.

That is a constant hot in our cars. It's the accesory wire.
That will store all of you settings, and everything else.

The yellow can go to your fuse box, there is a spot in there for the radio, it is marked.

Once you do that everything should work right.

Get's tohse wires disconneted though, that could cause problems...

Wha? yes there is. Connect the Yellow wire to the Yellow wire in the diagram. Connect the Red to the Orange. Done.

Do you have the diagram that the headunit manual has in it? That would be better to look at. What model is your headunit?

The yellow wire is probably grounding itself. Just take it out and cover the wire with something (BAD flynlow, BAD :nono: ). That should solve your problem.

LOL... you're having some bad luck with this install aren't you? Well, hindsight's 20/20, and lesson learned: never rush so much that you leave wires exposed.

The only other fuse I can think of is the accessories fuse on the fuse block. Check that one. You might have a fusable link on the yellow wire, depending on the headunit, also. If all else fails, have an audio shop open it up and see if you fried anything. It's possible there's another fuse inside the unit, but you could potentially void a warranty if you check yourself.

I installed my headunit today, and pondered getting rid of the factory harness. But I thought of the poor guy trying to put a different head unit in next time...

...Which will probably be me and some sweet-as-hell Clarion.
