need help mounting

MY AMP! heheheh.

Okay guys, seriously, I have a Kicker XL 405 D Amplifier (5 channel) this thing is a fricking beast. 18" long by 10" wide by 2.5" tall... what do I do with it? What's the best way? My insurance company will not cover my stereo unless it is all securely fastened with bolts, nuts, or screws. I want a really clean install job. I was thinking right up on top flat part in the hatch but the gas tank is right below it so that is a negative.

any other ideas? I would go look but my car is 2 hours away from me right now so I can't really visualize it well.

anyone? advice?

also: will my amp need a capacitor do you think?

Thanks a MILLION guys I am not too knowledgeable at audio stuff.

garett

I think the best way to mount a large amp is to get a 1/4" or 3/8" piece of wood and put it between the carpet and the gas tank area. Then just mount the amp to that piece of wood using 1/4" or 3/8" screws (depending on size of wood). This way it is well mounted and your insurance should except it.

I remember someone saying if you use screws that are very small in length you could mount it there. You could do some creative stuff if you mount it on a board.

I installed mine in the glove box section on the left in the back (w/ the lockable door). If I can fit my amp and cap and distrabution block in there, I think you can fir yours in there, and ya you will need a cap and bigger wires if you have stock alt.
F.Y.I.<Picture was taken before I installed my cap and got the other amp for my mids/highs, so i didnt need a distrubition block either>

I don't believe that your amp will fit in the glove box. That is where I have my CD Changer and i have a couple of inches of padding on both sides so i would say it is about 6-8 inches wide. How many amps RMS is your amp?
