Deaf people and care audio.

Well I was going to put 4 - 12" eclipse titanium subs and 4 Eclipse 1000 watt amps and MB Quart components all around in my car. I am however deaf so I can't hear this but I thought hey maybe this will be soo loud that it will maybe make me be able to hear again. That or ill be able to make my neighbors mad and yell at me. I hope i makes me hear again. Pls give me your thoughts.

You're not going to hear a damned thing if you're completely deaf. If you've got some degree of hearing, then you might hear something. I would assume that you would know what your own hearing capabilities are. None of us do.

However... a lot of deaf people fill their cars up with audio equipment because the low frequencies can very easily be felt. When I ran the Audio Club at RIT, we had a few deaf members, and when I worked at local retail shops, we had a lot of deaf customers.

If you're completely deaf, don't waste your money on components. Just buy subs. There are subs out there that cost less than the eclipse that will provide a greater sensation (i.e. higher SPLs), and although the Eclipse amps are decent, there's better for your money. If all you're running is subs, then you should be looking into class D amps. They're cheap, powerful and efficient.

If you're deaf how are you going to hear your neighbors yell at you? And exactly how is overly loud music going to be able to make you hear again?

I hope you're not joking because if you are you are one very sick individual.:nono:

I woul definitly get some SPL subs if I were you. Subs that sounds bad but have high SPL's. Like the MTX RFL 15" sub. I hear they are very loud but sound bad. Its fun making the neighbors mad isn't it. I had a guy come from way up the street and he asked me what the problem was and why don't I turn it down, people are trying to sleep. It was like 8:30, and he went back home.

It's a stupid attitude like that which makes us all look like a bunch of irresponsible meatheads.

It's clowns with that attitude that are always the first ones to bitch when local SPL ordinances get passed and people start getting ticketed.

Have some respect and keep your booming out of residential neighborhoods.

Well I am sorry but I live in a residential area and all the places i I go are residential areas. So should I just not ever blast my stereo? Why have it if I am not going to use it unwisely? I cant hear this is true but I can still feel the vibrations through the seat so I have to have it booming.

I live in a residential neighborhood, and the law around here for Stereo's is that if the officer can hear it, its too loud. The guy I was talking about, who came and told me to turn it down, left and that is what I did, I turned it down. He has never had to tell me again. As for local SPL ordinances, I would never complain about them. I'm sure no one with a stereo around here has ever got yelled at for playing it loud, or has went through a residential area with their system up. Seriously Jim85IROC, I want to know if you have listened to your stereo louder than you should have in a place where you probably shouldn't have?
Just for the record I am not a clown or a irresponsible meathead.
I will take Jim85IROC's advice and keep my stereo turned down in residential areas.

Anybody else think this is perhaps a joke post?

Guess you could install vibrators in your seats, would be pretty effective and wouldn't **** off the neighbors....

If you are truly deaf then an extremly loud car will not help you hear agian. But you will be able to feel the music, which IMO is better. And don't go with Ecplise wayyyyy too expensive and not nearly loud enough. Go with some Orion class D amps and wither CV Strokers or MTX RFLs .as for sizes Might I suggest 2 10s and 2 15s. The tens will give you a real punch and the 15s will rumble. either way get custom boxes built and get ready to feel the music.

Yeah, I used too boom around a lot when I was a teenager. Then I grew up a little and realized that pissing off old people isn't as cool as I thought it was. I still boom my stereo on occasion, but when I turn off the main road into a residential area, I turn it down. It may not be down enough for them not to hear it, but at least their flower pots aren't blowing over. When I come up to a traffic light, I turn it down because I know the guy in front of me and behind me has no interest in having his mirrors shaking and being forced to listen to what I like.

And I NEVER play it loud enough to disturb people at night or early in the morning. I lived in enough bad neighborhoods to know how incredibly irrating it is for my windows to start shaking all the time, day and night. I get equally pissed off when some moron in an 89 corolla is booming his gangsta rap in the lane next to me while i'm stuck at a light.

It's just about having a little respect for people, and doing your part not to ruin it for all of us. The reason that we have these ultra-strict laws is because people are too arrogant and irresponsible to know when to turn it down.

I never played my music loud late night or in the morning, That would definitly be irresponsible. It is annoying when you hear the bass at midnight when your trying to sleep. I have turned my stereo down quite a bit, I would like to save my hearing. I think I have lost some of my hearing from turning my stereo up loud. So lets all do everyone a favor and keep the music down to save our hearing and to keep the neighbors happy. Because if you can't hear, how are you going to enjoy the music? I think that just feeling the bass is half the experience, You need to hear the whole song IMO.

Yeah, it really doesn't bother me either. But that doesn't bother my neighbors or anyone else.

It's kinda funny, I can tell when my friends come over before they come up to the door. Mom will say "oh, such-and-such is here....." heh

That's EXACTLY what I was thinking.

Put 4 or 5 under each seat and play some Magic Mike. Just keep a 9/16" wrench with you to tighten up the seats every so often.

Eclipse products are AWESOME, and what makes them unique is that they have a 1 year theft warranty (on the decks at least), and thieves generally avoid cars with these, because they are electronically controlled, so when disconnected from the battery, they are immediately worthless, unless you have the deck RESET by the company itself, which is complex. However, you just use a CD of your choice as the key, carry it in your CD collection, and use that in case your deck gets tampered with a dead battery, disconnect etc. I love it, and feel better that thieves generally avoid Eclipse for this reason. I also suggest an alarm of course, and I also put small stereo stickers on the driver and passenger window as warning too. I have my stuff today, and its not gone. *knock on wood*

Hearing loss is hearing loss folks. If this guy is deaf....and plays his music at deafening levels (and can actually hear it), he is hurting what hearing he has left...not helping it.

that's a good point. a lot of people do a ton of damage to their ears because they don't realize how hearing loss works. to give the simple explanation, the amount of pressure in a sound wave is what does damage, not how loud it sounds to you. my brother's lost a fair amount of hearing, because when he was young he had several sets of tubes put in his ears to prevent infections, and it resulted in about a 10% permanent loss. but this means that he has to crank his stereo 10% louder to hear the same effect as someone with no loss. so his hearing degrades faster due to the higher volume. then he's up to 20% loss, and turns his stereo up 20% higher than normal, etc...

and as for saving what little hearing you may have left, you never know what medical miracles are coming down the road, so why risk the possibility of a total, irreversible loss? get the bass shakers if you want to feel bass.

I can understand where this guy is coming from. I am an interpreter for the deaf and one of my deaf friends has 2 15s in his accord cause he found from riding in my brothers car that when the music was hittin' he could feel the vibrations and "hear" the music through the vibrations. For an example, turn your stereo up loud and listen...then turn off all the treble and put earplugs in your ears, and pay attention to how much better you can feel the bass when you can't hear the music very well. Personally if I was deaf I would put beat in my car, because feeling the vibrations of the music is a big part of the musical experience which is why there are a few companies that make products that vibrate to make you think you can hear more bass.
just my $.02
