okkkk i have a question. i am getting a cd player that supports mp3. do i burn the mp3 files on a disk and just pop it in everytime i want the songs or do they save once thier in the cd player? if they save how do you go back to the song. i have a kenwood kdc mpv622.. very nice

 

unless you have a hard drive in your player, I dont think you do, than you burn the mp3 songs onto a disk, You can get 500 or more songs on a mp3 disk, depending on what quality the mp3 song is recorded to.

 

Like said you'll need to put the disc in each time. You won't get 500 songs on a cd unles you're ripping them at like 52kbs. But you should be able to fit 100-130 songs on at like 160kbs.

Remember that when burning MP3's that you want to burn a data cd not an audio cd.

On a side note, I use roxio to make my cd's.

 

i use easy cd creator 5 platinum and i can create data cd or an mp3 cd.. so should i just burn them as data cd's?

 

I use the same program, under the music section, click make an mp3 cd. Than you find the folder with your music, open it up, select the songs you want and drag them to the bottom, Once you have the song on the bottom, click to red record botton.

Side note. On the lower left side, you will see the cd you are creating, it will have a name, the name will be the date, you can rename it anything you want. On my deck when I put the cd in, it says the name of the cd.

The only problem I have is the order of the songs or the "playlist" Every time I make a cd it puts the songs in alabetical order. So I have to name the songs with A, B, C, in the front of the name to put them in the right order. Isnt there a way to make a play list to put the songs in a specific order. What am I doing wrong??

My rockford 9300 deck shows the name of the song. It is limited to 10 letters. So it depends on your deck, But I'm sure it would list the name of the song for you. You have to name the songs in your computer before you record you disk.

 

I use Nero and have a Kenwood MP8017 deck. If I use Joliet, I can have pretty much anything show up. The deck also has CD text capability, so I can see the artist and the song title with a break inbetween, without a character limit. I love it to death.

i was thinking about picking one up and running it through my soon to be system instead of having to carry cd's around all the time

 

It can be done, but I would never do it. You can get an MP3 "disk" player for $200. Those little person MP3 player can t hold enough song comparied to a 700 mb disk. I'll take my 20 mp3 cd over a small capasity person player anyday.

I might be the only one, but I converted all my orig cd's to MP3 disks, so I can place about 5-8 regular cd's onto a Mp3 disk when converted. So instead of carring a book of 200 cd's around, I only have 20. And I can listen to a full mp3 cd for about a week with out ever changing it.

 

i guess this is one of those posts i should reply to (i got mp3 in the name, mind as well use it ). back in the day of winamp .97 or so, i had built a hardware based mp3 player using a very stripped down pc and DOS-based mp3 programs. nice little high school project. nowadays, its easier to just use something pre-built, like an mp3 deck or an external portable player. i had a portable cd player that played mp3 disks, these can be found for around $100. card based ones are more expensive, but also have their advantages (no moving parts, so no skipping ever and smaller size). i just bought a jvc sh909 head unit which is a spectacular deck. one of the best you'll find for under $400 (crutchfield has them now for $240 or so). this deck also has 2 sets of inputs on it, just in case you feel like hooking up other things like a minidisk player or other audio source. many other decks have aux inputs on them as well. for those who dont, an fm modulator will allow you to do something similar. it hooks in between your antenna and deck and allows you to play back the source through a lower radio station (usually in the 88-90 range). for ripping and encoding your cds, i ONLY use EAC and Lame. both free programs and make 90+% perfect copies. these programs also work together, so no worry about having to swap back and forth. these have become the standard for ripping. then just burn data cds with the mp3s on them and you're set.

 

i got a 2002 kdc-mpv619 and it says the filemane of the song on the screen. so yours should too

 

some playes will only alow a certin number of letters though, mine is 10.
