hope to *** its bolted down or something,,,,,in a collishion your going to ge eating that rack!!!!! Trust me I was in a car accedent and a guy had a 8" sub just sitting in his back window,,,needlees to say he got a huge bump on his head,,,was bleeding and could of got a concushion. Id say attach it to your sub box good!!!!! then theves will need to take your sub box too or unscrew it,,,they wont get enoght time if you lace the screws to her.

Heres what i think:

Looks - 0 (after its covered total different story maybe a 6)
Practicality - 5
Functionality - 9

overall - 7 (after its carpeted)
Its different looking but works

heres what I made for an ttop amp rack (all i got to do is put my tops in the bag upsidedown as not to poke the subs)......

It may be just me, but why would you guys put you amp (or subs) out in the open like that. When I make my box for the rear well I have a borad covering all of it, You wont be able to see my 2 amps, a sub or any wires. Here is a pic, you might have seen it in my other thread.

well 1st......(its also just my opinion,,,im not really dissing yours)
your supposed to leave the amps out in the open so your amps get enought air flo to keep em cool,,,,thats why they have fins.
2nd
if someones ganna steal your sub box your amps are with it anyhow, they're gone anyhow.
3rd
I like the look of my set up or i wouldnt of used the flashy dimond plate stuff
4th
I live in a small city and chances are good of me finding out who stole my system to kick there a$$
5th
I like to tweek with the amps gains to get the right sound it would be a hassle to remove the cover allthe time.
6th
I wanted my rack thin and wanted my subs only in the hole.....so my tbars fit in just like they did from the factory.
7th
I normally have the tbar bag over the amps alittle to get the best of doth worlds to kind of conceal them (see bottom pic).
8th
If you live in a small city like mine it dont matter if you cover them up everyone can hear them fome a mile down the road.
9th
I have a tinted rear window so nobody can see em with the car locked up anyhow

Once agian not "ripping" just responding to statemants (we are all freinds here)

1st: My amps (and top of sup) wont be enterly enclosed, the front and back will be open. Only the side will have to "brackets" to screw in the top. Pleanty of air to cool amps. If you look at my pic, only the gray section is completly enclosed.

2: I'm sure there would be a less of a chance of them getting stolen if they theif cant see them. If a car is sitting with the engine running and the door open next to a car with the doors locked, what do you think is going to get stolen.

3: That I understand you are going for looks/sound. Me I'm going for stealth/sound.

4: I live in a larger city.

5: I never tweek the amps. As Ron Popeil says with the rotisiary turkey cooker "set it and forget it"

6: My tops will fit, I just have to fip it so the straps are on the bottom of the bag.

7: Your bag might conseal them, but if some see's you amps, I'm pretty shure they are going to know you have subs.

8: Everybdy hearing the subs is unavoidable, I always turn them down once I get to where I'm going to park. Otherwise you have your loud music, pull up and park, leave, and the guy in the next parking spot gets a bad idea.

9: I hope the tint is dark.

I only listed my responses to give you something to think about, I'd hate to see anybody put alot of work into thier stereo and then have it stolen.

Keep on thumpin'

I don't quite undertsand the idea of putting your amps on the back deck without cover. I hear some say for cooling but I had to cover mine with a box to keep them from over heating in the sun. This my be just something that people living in an area like mine deal with... the desert I finally added some fans back there to help with cooling.

Yah my back windows tinted pretty good. I dont live in a desert at all hehe,,,I live in canada and out of the sun the hottest it would get on an average summer day would be 27-30 degrees celsius. plus I'd have the windows down letting cool air in while the amps are on in a hot summer day or better yet tbars out wooooohoooo.

Yah jawsforlife could pick up a few computer fans if he wanted to,,,,,is that what you used Fei?

Yup I used clear 80mm fans with 4 blue LEDs... Looks smooth on the black carpet.

Here's my solution to the amp rack/t-top storage problem. My amp is recessed into the sub box 1 1/4" between two 12" subs with a 1/4" sheet of plexyglass 2" over everything to keep it protected. I have a vinyl cargo cover on all the time so nobody knows whats back there.

hey mirth,

in my opinion, i really kind of like it. It looks like you did a half @ss job constructing the rack, but I really like the design of it with the t-tops underneath... if you use the creative portion of your mind I am sure you can configure some way to attach the amp solid to that rack and attach the rack solid to the floor of your trunk...

just my 20 cents...

my first idea for an amp rack was to put the amps underneath this board so that the amps and subs would be underneath the board and mount the t-top bag on top of that it would have work but i forget to take shutting the hatch into consideration. if i were to have closed the hatch with that setup the flat part of the hatch, where it latcheds, would have just shattered the tops, came up with this concept. im thinking of maybe building a box on top of it then putting a lock of some sort so there would be less appealing to thiefs.
