Those stock cd players with the yellow writing are very rare and expensive. I have one out of my 92 RS and the radio plays great but the cd player just clicks. Cd player in it just isn't that good. I suggest getting a cd player from a newer gm car or truck.

When I was down at Thirdgen resource a few weeks ago, I saw a 90-92 stereo with the yellow writing. I'm pretty sure it was a CD player. It was just sitting on a shelf in the office. Not even sure it was for sale.
It may be worth sending them an Email.

in daylight it looks great
at night the backlighting makes it so you can see where its scratched on the buttons.
it plays CDs fine but i took it out because it doesnt play CDRs.... (was made before there were CDRs lol

I would say the best bet would be to get one out of the newest GM car you can find. Get the car side wireing also since the plug is different, and a adapter where you don't have to cut your wires. No one excecpt the purest show judge is going to realize it. Several co's also make a din and a half style radio/cd that would maintain a stockish appearance with better sound. Last time I looked at one the dealer wanted like 400 + for the factory radio, this has been several years, I am sure the pice is gone down, but I am sure they no longer make the thing either, they would sell you one out of a newer car.

I paid $40 for this out of a 2000 grand am. I had to trim vents and mount bracket to make it fit. and it was just a plug-in.

Now that is an ugly CD player....unless you buy the one that was optioned for our cars what is the point of getting a factory reciever? They sound bad, look even worse, and can't compare in quality to a lot of the aftermarket receivers out there.

Its in a convertible. Its almost impossible to make good sound in a vert. If you put a high dollar system in them sooner or later some @#^%$* will slash your top and take it. Its sad but true.
