has the following:

Remote Start
Power Windows
Power Door Locks
Power Trunk

As well has the following alarm features:

Pager
Ignition kill
one loud mother F*cker

If it doesn't have the windows I will live, but I want the rest. Not too worried about price, but want to stay under $500.00, but $550 isn't going to kill me. I am putting about $15k into my car all at one time and needless to say I want to keep it safe.

Good luck. I got my Viper Remote Start (just the remote start) and it cost me $300 installed. But if you install your alarm yourself, it might fit into your budget. Just thought I would add that.

I don't know how the US pricing is, but 2 systems come to mind....

Viper 790XV, this is a combo unit (Security and remote starter), with out puts for door locks, trunk/hatch release.
The remote has an LCD screen that is more than just a pager, it will tell you in plain english what is going on, car running, shut down, door trigger, shock sensor, etc.... It also comes with the starter kill. This system has 2 aux outputs (one would be used for trunk/hatch release), the other could be used for a vent setting for the windows. I am using both outputs for window roll up and down on my bosses BMW.

The other system is the Crime Stopper CS2015, a lot of the same features as the Viper, combo unit, outputs for door locks, trunk/hatch release, etc. The Crime Stopper uses a dot matrix screen on the remote, uses icons that show up on the screen to inform you of what is happening.

The Viper is more money, but I do like that unit, I have installed dozens of them and they work very well.

I have probably installed more Crime Stopper units, and have had only one problem that was system related, kinda, there is a short cable that is plugged into the main module (brain) and then plugs into the antenna transceiver, which in this particular unit one of the wires (there are 3) had no connection, making the system unresponsive to remote commands. Swapped that cable and all was good.

Window automation will be extra, regardless of system used, requires an extra module that can be wired in.

These are the 2 systems I would reccomend looking at.

i dont think we need to get into this. as the raven said, crimestopper and viper make good alarms. out of those two, i would go with the viper, but they are a bit overpriced imo. i have never worked w/ audiovox alarms. in fact, i didnt even know they made them. i would say, find some possibilities, do a search for each and read some reviews. good luck in keeping it in your desired price range and getting a system that meets your qualifications. thats all i can say at this point.

Well audiovox makes the Prestige line. not many people know that. here is a link to there upper end stuff (keep in mind you get what you pay for)

http://www.audiovox.com/webapp/wcs/s...y_prestige.jsp

take a look and see if you liek anything.... also keep in mind that not all the accessories are listed on the web site.

also keep in mind you may have the worlds best alarm but if you have a really bad installer its not going to do you any good.

everyone here has valid points. the only part that im missing is what does it matter of what company makes the "best" alarm we could go on forever debating whose got the best features, prices, add-ons, etc.... Someone could say the Viper 790xv is the best or that the Audiovox APS800 is the best but what does it really matter it comes down to two main things 1. The prices and 2. The reliability.

and don't forget how its installed. that would be my 3rd point

That was going to be my point, to blatently say "that system is junk" or "don't ever use "X" system" is not a good way to "sell your product".

All systems have their strong points and not so strong points.

I used to be a diehard Clifford fan, until my AvantgardIII decided that it would do it's own thing, which always seemed to be contrary to what I wanted it to do. The rest of their systems from the same time frame were quite good, I did find their AvantgardIV system to be an odd one though, first year for the G4 technology, and again the rest of their systems were well thought out, but with the demise of the original company, now owned by DEI, at one point they were unsure as to what they were going to do with the name, so far they have kept it, but may be in teh next few years dropping that name along with a few others from the DEI line-up, this info is from a DEI rep (not the store reps, but the head DEI office). It is however undecided as to what WILL be happening but this seemed to be a very strong possibility, and with about 8 different line names and very similar product between each line name, I can see this happening in the future, not all at once, but a slow demise of names, and moving the products (if they were any different other than just model number) into the line names they plan to keep.

There are a few brands that I do not like, not because they don't well, not be because they are not reliable, but because the install can be long and tiresome, which brings up another point, if the system is "installer friendly" it will be more recommended than other systems, usually making install time shorter, which depending on how install is charged by the shop you deal with, can also bring the price down on that.

I dont remember what company makes it, I know they are located in south africa. They make a alarm system that has flamethrower on each side of the car, if someone tries to break into your car it sets them on fire. I dont know about you but that is, in my oppinion the alarm system out there. Just my 2 cents

unfortunately anything like that is illegal in the U.S. It would be great though if you could set up something like a stun gun on the body of a car. I heard of someone doing that and killing a person that was trying to break into the car. Lets just say he wasnt a free man anymore. I think he got like 5 years for manslaughter or something to that effect.

From what I have read/been told Texas does things right as far as theft is concerned, where the owner of the object getting stolen/broken into, has the right to defend themselves/property, but I do not know for sure, as I do not live there, but thinking about it. LOL

audiovox makes a prestige alarm called city tuff( model no. APS-996) that will do everything you want including the pager.the only thing you would have get extra is the window roll-up modules.i prefer the DEI products because they use external relays which means the relays are easily replaceable in the event of a problem and DEI products ARE better quality.i've been a professional installer since 1984 and DEI products are on both of my vehicles. ( don't tell my boss that 'cause we sell prestige not DEI products)

LOL, I'm kinda doing the same, I have an Alpine security system in my truck, we don't even sell Alpine Car audio. LOL I used because I already had it, and fit with the system design I have, plus I am waiting for a non-remote start version of the 790XV to be released, since I drive manuals, I don't want/need the remote start side.

I have an Alpine Alarm with Keyless entry installed. I'd have to say that my favorite feature is the infrared sensor. Any time the alarm is armed and someone sticks their hand through the window or t-tops, it goes off. Pretty cool.

I want an alarm that...-rs_1.jpg

Not sure I could set the up on my vert though. But when you think about it a convertible is the best place for it if someone decides to cut open my top.

sure you can,i've got an avital alarm with a DEI radar sensor in the console behind the shifter. it is a dual zone,if you walk up and look in the car,it will emit six warning chirps and the parking lites will flash. if you reach inside the car,it goes into full alarm mode.this sensor can be added to any alarm that has an instant neg trigger(not a door trigger).this is in an'89 rs 'vert.if you have a convertible, the sensor is almost necessary especially if you leave it with the top down alot.
