JL audio System...please post opinions

I have a pioneer 3500 new headunit and I love it...I want to buy JL audio 6x9's (tr690 I think) and JL audio 4 inch front speakers (tr400 I think) that come with a 4x6 adapter plate. For bass idealy one 10 inch JL 10w3v2 and the 250/1 amp to put in a box that takes up the lower portion of my rear well. How does this sound...I'm trying to not spend a huge amount of money but want quality...therefore I was looking at buying from purecaraudio.com or some other discount dealer. I'm a cheap *** high schooler that wants a good system...doesn't mix does it? I looked at it and thought maybe do all alpine type S stuff (4x6, 6x9, 10 inch sub, and a jbl 300.1) but in think JL is better sounding stuff. Any opinions on either setup? Any way I can get some good but awesomely cheap JL equipment...BTW...what do ya'll think of buying used amp/subs or new speakers and stuff from ebay. Do I take a big risk. I need some serious advice. Can I use a Jbl 300.1 with my JL 10w3v2? Or would that sound crappy? Please advise...Thanks ahead...

Ebay is not bad. Check the sellers comments to see hows they're doing. You will want to stay away from sellers with many negative comments. And aways reread their description to make sure your not getting something broken.

They JL stuff you mention should sound fine.

cheap JL system? I wish too!

JL is some good stuff, 300.1 amp will rock your car! 300 watts of class D amplification is plenty. I had the 500.1, it was a beast.

My first system was an Alpine head unit with a $50 pair of Kenwood 6x9s, I later added an Alpine amp and the JL Audio 500.1 with some ugly subs....it sounded exellent!

You don't need JL, if you can afford to do waht you're saying, you should consider some mid mid grade stuff, stay away from real cheapie stuff...like Sony X-plode. I've seen a system rock pretty good with a $175 Profile am (california series) I know it wasn't really 500 watts, but it sounded good.

The key is component matching....and more specifically: Impedence matching.

good luck finding good used high end gear, I've been trying for months, although I haven't checked any pawn shops.

get yourself a 12 power supply, some rca plugs and wires with clips, so you can quickly test and amp for in or out of a car. use a discman for an input signal and measure for a few volts of AC output across the terminals or hook up a 4 ohm speaker, jump a short wire from +12 volt power to remote input to light it up.

I've bought amps from Ebay before. I'd be a little careful about subs though because subs actually have a motor system that moves around unlike an amp or processor. It's easier to damage a sub in some ways.

Otherwise, I might recommend getting the 4's to replace the 6x9's and a component set up front if you can possibly afford it. That would tremendously improve the sound quality.

You do take a risk with buying internet stuff. BUT I have bought several items on ebay and other online retailers and never had a problem. For me the risk is worth the better price. I'm sure I may get burned someday but I've saved enough to be able to stomach that thought.

I would do JL over the Type S line.

its a hoax. read the second line, it says that this is for a website that will give you the amp for 38 bucks. not the amp itself just the website on where to get it. the guys that bid up to 60-some bucks are getting ripped off.
