Well it happened again.
FOR THE THIRD G-DAMN TIME.
July 2001: Aiwa CDC-MP3 head unit stolen out of my car in my driveway
December 2002: Windows smashed, interior ripped up on campus
LAST NIGHT: Kenwood MP8017 stolen, radio pod broken, from driveway again
I left my door unlocked that time BUT STILL THAT SHOULDN'T ****ING MATTER WHEN THE CAR IS TEN FEET FROM MY HOUSE

I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same thief every time too. He knows that you're an easy target, and that you're going to keep replacing the stuff he steals. Don't buy an alarm or anything.

an alarm with a good shock sensor & connected to the door pins would deter that. an led blinking in a highly visible spot would also discourage thieves, who wants to sit in a car with the alarm screaming? also, going stealth helps alot,if they don't see it,they don't wanna steal it.........

Do you live in a bad area or what? I have friends who live in fairly large cities and they've never had their S@&% yanked. Sorry to hear about it man. If there's a next time, hopefully you'll catch 'em in the act and beat their ***!

sadly,it doesn't really matter where you live anymore.think about it,if you were a thief ,would you go to a nice neighborhood or the ghetto?

I keep hearing about how everyone has been plagued by thieves. I might have a suggestion: I've been hearing and reading about this pinhole camera that doesn't require external power and is powered off the A/V port of a VCR, at least I believe it is. I have also used a VCR that can be powered by a 12VDC source (car battery). Now, my thinking is that someone rig up the camera to the VCR and stash the recorder in, say, the rear compartment opposite the spare well, and the camera in one of the AC vents. Then all you need is some light and a shock sensor to turn on the recorder and camera when someone breaks into the car, and you've got them on tape. Not bad for needing sleep, huh? It sounds good, at least in theory for now, I hope.
Just leave a porch light on mount a camera on the side of the house and leave it tape. Yeah it might get expensive but if it is the same ***hole you just might get him thrown in jail all caught on tape. I have thought of getting a wireless camera if they make one and put it in all of my cars and have a vcr tape it in the house. Yeah it might cost thousands of dollars but it would be well worth it to see the person in jail.
thats sh1tty to hear. my stereo was stolen once, right in my driveway. the dick head even locked and closed my doors when he was done. good thing it was the night before it was goin to the bodyshop so the subs and amp were in the house.

few ideas of my own to keep your car safe. First like mentioned above the use of a security camara aimed at your car, expensive but may end up paying for itself in the end, plus if it catches someone elses car being broken into you could sell the evidence to the owner Ha ha ha!! Also a switch wired into the fuel pump and hidden in a good spot so that when you park your car just flip the switch and no power to the pump. And finally this is one I plan on doing before I install my new $500 reciever. If you have a car alarm install a strobe light in the interior. I plan on removing the rear ash tray in my 91' and mounting it in there with a clear plastic cover to keep it clean looking. Should still light up the interior mounted down there. I don't think there are many theives dumb enough to stick around with the sirenes blaring and the interior lighting up!!

I hope this head unit didn't have a removable face and you didn't remove it. I live in an apartment complex and every night I take the face out and, at least, stash it in the console. If it looks like there is nothing worth stealing, they won't break in.
I used to have a webcam hooked up in the front window of my old house to watch my cars. I happened to live across the street from the local high school, so there was lots of cars parked around my house. It was rigged up so that it would record whenever it saw motion.
My roommate and I were in my car hooking up a 10" SRI to see what it would sound like (****ty). This was around noon, so there was lots of people around since it was lunch time for the school. Seemed like a normal day, until later a friend came over and said his car was broken into while he was in class. He just happened to be parked *right in front of my house*.
So we looked through the videos (usually recorded over 300 during school says). At around 12:15 it recorded us walking out to my car, my friends car still untouched. At about 12:20 it recorded us walking back into the house, with a smahed out side window on said friends car!
So not only did these thieves break into my friends car during broad day light with tons of people around, but they also managed to evade my security camera too. They are some lucky peices of ****...

My car's been stolen once. I live in Livermore, CA...its about 40 miles east of san francisco. They found it about 30 miles away from my house, in Oakland.
They got in by puncturing the pass. side door lock with a screwdriver or chisel or something, and then busted open the steering column...and away they went.
Luckily all they took were the wheels.

Sorry to hear about all of this. But I find it funny that my friend has a 89 RS with a exhaust that sounds like it has a V-8 even though it has a V-6. He leaves it running at a getho gas station, do to fear it won't start back up, and nobody steals it. He even left it running at thisone guy's hous nere that gas station while he was inside for 20 min and came out and it was still there.

It just doesn't make any sense. This stuff is SO friggin' cheap now (compared to what it used to cost) that you would think that it wouldn't be worth anyone's time to steal a head unit. You can replace them for $100.00!!!!!!!!! So what is the crack-head who's stealing it gonna get for it-used- on the street? WTF?????????

i would be scared that my car would overheat sitting for 20 mins.
and sometimes its funny if you can find the right person who won't do the research on items and a guy who might know some fancy words could get away with 80 more bucks in their pocket selling it to a guppy.

i had my alarm in my car installed when i reached the $500.00 mark on my system and one night i was in bed and around 5:00 it went off and woke the whole neighborhood, well i guess the idiots thought since it went off once it wouldnt do it again but to their surprise and my surprise (idiots) they tried it again 30 minutes later. and this time i was on my feet in and out the door only to find out they were gone. but needless to say the $300.00 it cost me for my alarm saved my $1800.00 system. oh and by the way , my led light was blinking 4 times and it meant they tried to get in my rear hatch,........

i had mine set that sensitive but thunder and and things like that would set it off, so i adjusted it to where you can lightly rap on the doors or glass and it will go off......its a shame we have to buy an alarm to protect whats ours to begin with, thieves need to be caught in the act by the owners and get the crap kicked out of them. i know if i ever caught anyone breaking into my car me or him one would be very sore the next day.....very sore.
