I want to get some kick panels for my car (will probably hold out and get the new design from subenclosures.com). I was wondering what people would recommend for speakers? Price isn't too much of an issue as long as it's worth it.

Even peoples suggestions of what I should stay away from would be helpful as well. Also, how much difference would 5.25s vs 6.5s be? I'm assuming it'd be best to go for the 6.5s...

my friend has Peerless components in his car...they sound amazing. so clear and crisp, you should look into them. MB quart also makes very good speakers, along with boston acoustic. he also said something about Vitaform or something like that for tweeters..

www.thezeb.com has CDT 6.5" components on sale for $149 shipped, i got my set in the mail about two weeks ago, built my own kickpanels, and all i can say is wow these are great, im feeding them 90 watts RMS with a jbl 180.2 and they can play louder than i would ever need them to!:hail:

I can get either Infinity Kappas 6.5s or MB Quart 6.5s (Premium series I think). Which would everyone recommend? I can get to listen to the MB Quart, but not the Kappas.

Out of those choices, I would go with the MB Quarts. If you could get the Kappa Perfects, it would be a tougher call.

I built my own fiberglass kick panels and put in a pair of Image Dynamics IDQ5 midranges in there...for tweeters i just took out the stock 4x6 and made a mounting plate for a pair of Focal T2X tweeters. Of the choices out there, the mid to high end MB and Boston will definatly out perform Infinity, if your looking for SQ and not just loud music. Ive found that making your own kick panels can be a pain in the *** to get good imaging but in the long run its definatly worth it. look into a custom car audio shop in your area and get some estamates on some custom work. if they want to much i think i spent about $40 on supplys for mine.....but i spent quite a bit of time working on them.

It was the Infinity Kappa Perfects I was talking about. I was going to get them off of ebay. But since I can get the MB Quarts locally, and those seem to be the preferred ones, I think I'll grab those. Thanks for the advice everyone!

How much are the MB's if you don't mind me asking? I have Infin 6.5's in mine and am very happy with them. I have the mids in the kicks and the tweets just under each corner of the dash.

I'm not sure on the exact price, but a friend said he should be able to get them for me for the $300-400 I was looking to spend. But he also wasn't sure on the exact ones I wanted, so I dunno.

I'll have to run wires from the back up to front for them. A bit of a pain, but what can ya do.

When I'm done I'll just have 2 pairs (front and rear) and the subs.

Since I wasn't going to use the 4x6s, I just removed them completly.

The rear speakers will just be run off of deck power. And depending on how it sounds, I might just remove those as well too.

Lava, yes you will most definitely want to remove those rear speakers once you hear speakers in kicks. The rear speakers draw the image back behind you no matter what you do in these cars. You will most likely find that you don't need them. Especially if the kick speakers are of better quality.

88TAJeff and learsieglerZ'83, that is what I've read here before and what I was going on when I planned my system. It's good to hear others saying the same thing.

Looks like it's the Reference series of MB Quarts, not the Premium series.

How do the Reference MB Quarts (RCE 216) compare to Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1s? I might be able to pick up a used set of the MQ Quart Premiums, but they'd still be more than the other two.

Perfects will be better than the reference quarts. But even the lower end quarts will be very nice speakers.
