Alpine CDA-9807 head unit, any opinions?
Alpine CDA-9807 head unit, any opinions?
Just bought myself a black '88 Trans Am (She whispered the name "Jett" to me on the way home, so I think she named herself), beautiful condition, low mileage, all that hoo-ha, so I figured the first thing I would do is buy a stereo system.
Browsing around, the Alpine CDA-9807 seemed like the best deal. $224 from caraudioexperts.com and it comes with features out the proverbial wazoo including MP3 cd playback which is my main selling point.
So I already ordered it, what can I say, I'm impulsive (No, Jett, leave my wallet alone! I'll spend money on you later!). What I'm wondering here is if anyone has any experience with this particular head unit or perhaps one of its siblings. Alpine also makes a cd-changer that reads MP3s, any experience with that? I'm looking into a changer after I upgrade the speakers, which will come after alarm/keyless, which will come after, well, I guess next.
Thanks guys,
Jay Sutton
and, introducing for the very first time, "Jett"!
(Am I crazy? Probably. But dangit, she just keeps calling my name!)

I have a Alpine-CDA 9815 unit which is considerably more money ($500 i got it for 350 however) and the sound quality from my POS Jensen deck made a huge jump even with the stock "ERS" speakers in my 86 roc. So judging from a higher model i was not dissapointed and love my deck! I was thinkin of gettin the one you ordered but im very particular on what I get 2 my car...the motorized tilt face and blue LED lights sold me. You can hardly ever go wrong with Alpine! Jett eh heh i dont have a name for my baby but she taunts me every once in a while...thats sum funny ****.
