4x6 Dash Speakers What Will Fit???

I did a search and saw that there were several brands being used. I went to crutchfield t g3et an idea what wil fit a 91 rs without bose and with power windows only 3 speakers came back. When I am looking for 4x6's for the dash what do i ned to look at just the mounting depth or is there something else?

yeah definatly take your dash off and check the depth of your stock speakers, i put my tweeters from my componetents up in the stock 4x6 locations and was pretty suprized at how little depth there is up there. make sure you check it out before you buy your new speakers.

I have a pair of Alpine 4x6 Type S's in my dash. I didn't have a problem fitting one in the passenger side, but I had to trim away some plastic for them to fit in the drivers side. It would still fit without trimming the platic, but the speaker was tilted forward slightly. Once you put the dash and speaker grills back on though, you can't notice.

I put some Boston Acoustics in there but there had to be some fabbing done on the left side for it to fit.

I used Pioneer TS-G4647's in the dash of my 92 Firebird. They bolted right in with no cutting or trimming. Hope this helps.

I had the alpine 4x6s they have mounting bracket that gives enough space to mount them. They eventually sun rotted and the fiberglass clones blew out. I bought some memphis 4x6s cause of the lifetime warranty, they didn't fit but I used the brackets from the alpines and they worked fine then.

I have had a ton of different speakers in my car, and the only ones that don't seem to fit are the plate ones where the tweeter is separate from the woofer, like the BA plates, Infinity, etc.

You can get a 4" component set and make your own plates. Thats what I did when I replaced my Kappa plates.

Do you know where I could just buy the brackets?

They came with my alpines but I'm sure if you go into a car audio store and start asking they probably know... I'll try doing some searches though... there just metal or plastic spacers really. They raise the speaker up so the magnet fits in the hole right.

Might have just been a problem with my memphis's but I know my alpines came with them and they wouldn't fit right without them. I bet you could rig up a homemade one if the store didn't carry it.

I believe I had the 4029s? Not sure on the model number I know they were 4x6 with the blue type cones. They were 2 ways I think... with around 80 peak watts.

Why go through all that when kick panels give much better imaging?

Kick panels are awesome too... but why not use the spot made to hold 4x6's in the dash?

Because the kickpanels provide 10 times the sound quality over the dash location, and using both could actually hurt that imaging you can from the kick panels...

They sound great to me with really clean crisp highs. They are running just off of the Pioneer 5500mp Head Unit so I don't know how they will hold under any more power than that.
