Thermostat controled fans......

hey guys im gonna put a system in my car and i got a amp box im gonna do w/ black pexi glass and have the top cut so that the plexi glass looks like da chevy bow tie and i was gonna drill holes in it for some air and i was wonderin would it be possilbe to wire a thermostat type thing to some fans for more air flow and have like a heat sensor on the amp so they could turn on if it got too hot. So what im wanting to know is, is this possible and how would i go about doing it.

Thanks,

It's possible, but why not just wire them to turn on whenever the amp is on?

Get a relay from radio shack. Wire it to the remote turn on from the deck, a hot wire, and ground.

It could probably be done without the relay, but I'm not sure how much that little remote wire can handle.

Just tell the guy at the counter what you're doing, he should be able to get you the right one. I personally haven't done this (yet) since I haven't built my amp rack. Also try searching for 'fan wiring' or 'fan relay' in the audio section. I saw a post that had a link on radio shacks website to the exact relay a few days ago.

The easiest thing to do would be to just hook up a relay to the fan so it turns on when the amps are powered up, and runs as long as the amps are on.
