I've got one I'll sell to you for the price of shipping....

The downside though is that it doesn't play CD-r's, seems to only like to play even numbered tracks, and displays some unknown alien text on the LCD. Let me know!

hehe

Haha, I'll have to think about that cd player Faded..

I just went in to get my haircut, come out and my cd player is gone. No alarm, though I think I'll get one now.
Was my fault though, door wasnt locked cause it was frozen, just come from college, got some snow yesterday there and my doors/locks have a tendency to freeze in the winter.
The first time i was at a pool hall with my buddies and they knocked the lock out.

This really sucks

**** man sorry to hear,,,,
Do you think its one of your friends?? Or aqaintances?? When my old car was broken into i could almost bet it was. I have an alarm now...a coded deck and a detachable face and theft inshurance and a real hate for thiefs if i catch one im ganna seriously hurt the guy!!! You should never leave your doors unlocked frozen or not id spent the $ to fix them.
Get a cd player that makes you enter the code ,,,that way if its stolin you get the satisfaction that no one will ever beable to use it hahaha.

Faded- if he doesnt want it email or pm me ill take it i need one for my camaro when my good one is in my other car.

I doubt it was anyone I knew this time. The first time I knew who did it though, not a friend though, was a guy i pissed off, they got it real good.

You can have the cd player, I need to get one that has some more security like you said. Faded: thanks for the offer man!

I put in new locks as soon as I got home, along with new seals.

Very true, before you get any hi tech system or just a cd player and some nice speakers get a alarm because as soon as thifes hear a hi tech system or just a lil sound there eys ar gonna be on your system. And plus any 99 and older GM vehichle is very easy to steal and or break into just tellin you the facts man.

Well I had a JVC unit with a fully motorized face. It wasn't a detachable faceplate, it had the active black panel face, so I couldnt remove it.

cajo_25: thanks for the offer My buddy might be able to get me one, cause he may have an extra one. But I will let you know if I need it. Thanks a lot!

Thanks,

Matt

Could you guys recommend some cd players?
This is some things i want on it: Ability to play CD-r's, a motorized face, some sort of PIN code for security, preamp outputs, remote.

Thanks,

Matt

O yea the model I had was JVC's KD-LX111, so something similair to that, with a security PIN would be nice.

If you feel like droppin the cash get an eclipse. 3 sets of rca outs, 1 set of pre's, power is cut you need a key cd that you program to get it running, if not you need a code from eclipse, and they have a blinking red light to let people know that it's eclipse. Had my decks for a while now, never got stolen. One in a 83 buick for like 7 yrs, camaro for 3

Or you can do what my buddy did. His jvc got stolen..went out and bought a pos Pyramid (sounded like complete crap). Well a while later somoene broke in his car again. Took the face plate off, but left it and the cd player because it was soo crappy. ... so you could just buy a pos HU, and it wont get stolen cuz no one will want it

kenwood makes a few decks that have motorized faces, remotes, plays cd-r's, and have outputs. i am pretty sure they have codes too. their decks are usually pretty reliable, just be easy on the face. we have a couple displayed at my work and they have been abused terribly by customers. they are still functioning though.

as far as avoiding getting your car broken into again, i have a few suggestions.
1) as everyone keeps saying, get an alarm. not all that cheap usually but its worth it. and you get what you pay for so dont get a cheap alarm just to have an alarm.
2) always lock your doors, even if you only plan to be away from your car for a couple of minutes. a thief could be waiting for that opportunity or you may end up taking longer than you expected. most of these thieft crimes are either crimes of opportunity or the thief is waiting in the parking lot for someone to get out of their car and go inside. this gives the thief the most amount of time before you get back. if you get an alarm with keyless entry you can satisfy both 1 and 2.
3) if you have a radio that has a detachable face (which 90% or more of the aftermarket radios do), take it off. even if you dont want to take it with you, leave it hidden in the car. a thief will usually go for the easiet target possible.
4) dont leave anything that looks valuable in car unless you have to. if you have to, try to hide it under a jacket or something. i know most of anybody who is reading doesnt apply but if you have a purse, it is very appealing to a thief.
5) and last, just use some common sense. dont make yourself an easy target.

disclaimer: the above info is for suggestion purposes only and does not guarantee to keep your car from getting broken into, stolen and/or have anything stolen out of it. in other words if anything still happens after you do the above, i aint paying for your ****. its not my fault, you just got bad luck.

my plan would be to get an alarm with a pager system on it that tells you what part of your car is being tampered with, not that that really matters because if any part of my car is tampered with I'll be out there in seconds. 2nt yea, the theft insurace tacked onto your regualar insurance bill is a good idea. lol claim your stuff is worth more then it is, so a break in just means you lose some time on your hands and you get new stereo gear.

Well

Personally my favorite brand for audio is Alpine. They are a little more expensive and some have motorized faces and all. They also have great sound and options. But right now I have a Kenwood, the numbers r 322 but i forgot the letter infront of the 322, It has the option to set a security code and detach faceplate and all. I do not have a alarm or anything but hopefully will get one soon. But ya that would be a good idea.

lol I tried to install a used kenwood and it had that security code stuff on it. Called kenwood and they want 30 bucks and my ID to reset the code. pff... screw that, I mean it is used, between 1999 and now who knows if it was ever reported stolen, PAPERWEIGHT! but... the only thing the original buyer gets is the satistfaction that if their stereo is stolen, no one can use it.... but the fact still remainds... if its stolen, its not in the original buyers hands so, sucks all the same if you ask me. Just keep in hope that the car theif knows that model has the sucurity code and what that code does so that he passes your car up. *srugs*

i believe you are referring to the KDC-322. not too back of a radio. nothing really special but it does have all the essentials. more reliable than many other brands.
