Yep!
I believe they are 3 x 5's. Replaced mine just this summer but I can't quite remember. Best Buy, Circuit City, etc, etc, carry Pioneers and Kenwoods that fit beautifully----BUT.....
Make sure you put "bass blockers" on them. They are much smaller than the sail panel speakers and can't handle much bass.
Ready-made blockers cost about $25/pair IIRC, but there's an old thread here on making your own (easy, trust me, I did it, and all I can do with a soldering iron is burn myself) for about $3 using a couple of easy-to-get capacitors from Radio Shack.
Can you believe the idget who used to have my car put a pair of expensive round speakers that were too deep in the dash, and ruined the dash pad??? What a jerk.
Hope you can find the thread (search "bass blockers"), because I put a post in there about how I "auditioned" three different value capacitors to see what sound I liked the best. It took a little while, but it was easy and fun.
I'm sure you know that the low bass frequencies are non-directional, that is, you really can't tell where in the "room" the bass is coming from. That said, make sure you have some kicka$$ speakers in the back, and you'll have a great combo.

They are 4x6" and since I have really crappy ones, I can't recommend any at this point, but WalMart (yeah I know-it means s**t) carries a set of 4x6 Pioneers for $59.99 and eBay might have some used ones or new ones for cheaper (think Christmas gifts).

Because...
....3 X 5 or 4 X 6 speakers won't handle the bass.
The system doesn't care what kind of speakers you have where, it sends the same signal to the giant speakers in the sail panels that it does to the little tiny speakers in your dash.
When you crank up the volume, the front speakers will break up something awful trying to keep up. It's an unavoidable fact that all other things equal, a small speaker can't handle bass as well as a large one.
I can't tell you to go to Circuit City and listen to the ones they have mounted on their test wall, because I guarantee you they have blockers inline, otherwise the small speakers would sound like shi'ite.
Ask more questions on this board, many are more knowleadgeable than I, but trust me, you'll thank me if you use the blockers. I have a stock replacement Delco AMFMCD in my dash, and I can blast it as loud as it goes without the speakers breaking up.

If you want to buy them ready-made with instructions, BestBuy, Circuit City, Radio Shack, etc etc etc.
Really, more fun if you make them yourself.
If you buy them, make sure you tell the technoid sales guy which speakers you have, and don't be afraid to get the value that blocks the most bass. You really can't get crap for bass out of a dash speaker in these cars, and you don't want bass there anyway. All it'll do is make the dash rattle.

If bass is not wanted in the front 4x6 speakers, then why are most upgrades biaxial? The only problem I have with mine, besides the fact that they are all over crap (I made a stupid error and bought cheap-o American Legacy's) is that, if anything, the tweeters don't match the rest of the system. They are too loud and give me a headache... I don't really mind the bass, and mine don't rattle (probably because I just barely squeezed them in there).
And yes, for my next set, I managed to find a set of cheap-o older Motorola junk tweeters (the old air-horn shaped kind) that have one bass blocker attached to each speaker. I just ain't sure if I threw them out or not when I cleaned the garage to put my Thirdgen in...

Before you buy bass blockers, find out if your deck has any type of internal crossover circuits. All but the most insanely cheap decks have *some* sort of crossover capabilities, and a fair number of them allow you to run a high-pass filter to the front speakers even when you use the internal deck power.
I believe Pioneer used to call this "FIE" or Front Image Enhancement. They ran high-pass to the fronts and attenuated the highs to the rear.
My alpine allows me to run the deck power with an adjustable high-pass. My JVC may as well.

well, i know nothing about stereos. i'm an engine guy myself. i have a monsoon 500 wat cd player out of a '99 Ws6 T/A. I had a guy i know put it in because the wiring is a little different than a 3rd gen deck. so,i mean you have to really explain the crossover thing in baby words to me here.

Some decks have built-in circuitry that does the same thing as bass blockers. They often call it "Low-Pass" or "High Pass" filters.
If your deck does have the built-in filters, and they work, you don't need the blockers.
Check the Owner's Manual for your stereo for instructions. If you don't have the manual, page through the menus, looking for "filters" or "crossover".

Forget it. The Monsoon deck is a late model factory deck, which wouldn't have anything even remotely close to an internal crossover. The late model decks are just now starting to catch up to what the aftermarket offered circa 1992.
